Reynolds to market Snus as an option for people quitting smoking

"Snus comes in a small pouch that is placed between the lip and gum. The tobacco is pasteurized, not fermented, and it contains less moisture and salt than moist snuff. It also does not require the consumer to spit, Reynolds said"
I did not know they manufactured it that way. Now if they could only work on the flavor and nicotine content

"The ads have run in large-circulation magazines such as Entertainment Weekly, People, Sports Illustrated, Time and US Weekly, as well as free and alternative publications."
Has anyone seen any of these published ads?

Would you use Snus as an alternative to smoking?
Kinda lopsided results ...
Time for all good Snuson-ers to VOTE!!

It's funny to think of all the customers they will ultimately lose. You know, the people like many of you who first came to snus and smoking cessation by way of a crappy little green tin with a Camel on it, who then used the internet to find the real deal. Bye bye, RJR. See you in hell.

I read that article this morning, it's interesting to see them change tactics mid stream after missing the mark initially. Personally I don't care if RJR ever makes another dime in tobacco revenue. I'm curious to see how the FDA reacts though

I always thought reynolds would have done better giving away free tins of grizzly away with the purchase of a pack. I mean if your promoting only snus then you may as buy tins of general and give them away. Of course they could up the nicotine content and ph like oh 30-50 percent and cut down the sweetness by 60-90 percent and have a decent product but they didn't do that.

What I dislike is that RJR has never disclosed the type of pasteurization that they use...and one thing I've always liked about Swedish snus manufacturers is the transparency that they bring to the market. It allows potential users to make an informed decision about what they put into their mouth.Originally posted by Jwalker View PostI always thought reynolds would have done better giving away free tins of grizzly away with the purchase of a pack. His statement is technically correct, but he's manipulating the comparison without considering nicotine addiction. Sure quitting altogether is better than using harm reduction products, but harm reduction products are still a step towards the safer direction and without the issues quitting cold turkey or with useless gums and patches. Typical thinking of those who believe all tobacco is evil and nicotine is a carcinogen.Originally posted by pris View PostYeah right

It showed up in the Isthmus last week which is a weekly out of Madison. They actually had two full page adds, Let it snus and have a smokefree 2011 in the same paper. Looked very impressive in a hard copy.Originally posted by snusgetter View Post"The ads have run in large-circulation magazines such as Entertainment Weekly, People, Sports Illustrated, Time and US Weekly, as well as free and alternative publications."

I don't buy into that line of thinking, no pun intended..lolOriginally posted by danielan View PostThe faster RJR starts making money from it, the less likely it will be completely banned.
Here's an interesting link that I recently found. To me, it appears to be the application for patent by RJR for Camel SNUS. Under the second tab, about a 1/4 of the way down the page it outlines the "pasteurization" process they use. Check it out...interesting
