Huh? That makes sense, lets ban telling people that something is safer than smoking.

Really. To be fair though, it's only banning manufacturers from stating that--forums like this and perhaps even distributors could get-away with informing their customers.

I do wish the government would take-up a more sensible approach. This 'abstinence only" mindset when it comes to nicotine is as damaging as that mindset when it comes to sex. Really, any rational person would not deny a well-manufactured condom is a barrier to STDs and pregnancy. So why are they denying snus' safety compared to tobacco's?

The same reason the pope discourages condom usage: fundamentalist puritanism.

Well, it couldn't ban foreign manufacturers from making any claims. How many US manufacturers of snus are there? Wait, how many half-decent US manufacturers are there?
