Your diet is the single most important thing to be aware of that can affect your health. For BP and hypertension #1 being to lower you sodium intake as much as possible.
Hey PP, I know where you are coming from that is the biggest recommendation you here as first line defense for high BP. Health is like religion, so I understand you have to tread carefully and respectfully as to others views. I haven't reduced my salt intake but I have changed the type of salt I use from standard table salt to Himalayan Salt. I salt to taste and look at it as a healthy addition to my diet. However everyone's diet needs can be different based on personal issues. Either way, I think salt has been unjustly vilified when it is actually more a nutrient then a toxin. Really imo, it comes down to getting enough salt but not too much, so elimination or too low consumption may be actually harmful just as too much could be harmful. The dose makes the poison.
Unless you eat totally all natural foods and no processed foods whatsoever then its probably ok add salt to your diet. But nowadays there is way too much salt in the processed foods we consume. I certainly wouldn't add salt to anything. But that's just me and doc says to stay as sodium free as possible. At the dinner table I haven't added xtra salt to anything in years. Hell I even have to order my margaritas without salt. ;(

I agree, and the processed food is worse than the salt it contains. Again, I would never consult my doctor or a a traditional doctor for any dietary advise. The standard advise is whole grains and low fat and I follow a high saturated fat diet butter, lard, coconut oil, palm oil and some olive oil to a lesser degree (virtually zero vegetable or seed oils, and no imo canola oil is not a healthy option) and no grains especially wheat other than a few gluten free varieties white rice for example.
Traditional Docs virtually receive zero education on nutrition in medical school, so most of the diet info you receive from docs is courtesy of big pharma which supports their interest to push meds not getting a person healthy via diet. I could never use e cigs to quit snus, as well as vice versa. I love them both! Sure, I may go some days doing exclusively one or the other, but I could never permanently do one or the other. IMO, if one wants to quit nicotine, the only way to go is cold turkey. The stepping down would never work for me.

I agree to a point ramping nic levels down may help and is not a bad idea but at some point you just have to pull the plug. I think snus is much more satisfying them vaping and imo potentially less harmful. I can feel the effects physically if I vape, stuffy nose, irritated throat, tight chest, much much less then smoking cigarettes but still there plus I am still leery of what chemicals/metals I may be getting from the atomizer and/or vape juice.

I've recently started vaping, and intend to quit snus.
I'm in the UK, and am getting sick of having to order snus by unreliable mail order, and the fact that I can only get V2 brands.
I ran out of snus last week, waiting for an order that got held up, so bought a starter vape rig, and very quickly realised that it was the way to go.
My snus order turned up a couple of days later, and I've barely touched it so far, just a couple of portions a day. So far, the vape is winning, but how much of that is down to it being a new thing, we'll see.
Good to hear from you Muddy! And I'm glad you have found something that works well for you. I was down in Lewes yesterday and thought of you as I went past the signs for Hayward's Heath.
Although I too am tempted to try vaping, I always remind myself that I am very happy with snus ... and that snus has been around for long enough that the long term health implications of using it has been studied and published, whereas vaping is too new to have had any kind of long term study of it's use to have any useful findings. No doubt it is far safer than smoking though.

It's an easy switch, easier then going from cigs to snus or cigs to ecigs. I'm preferring it to snus and I think my gums are recovering. I was on regular portions and 12mg eliquid is enough...
It's more presentable Imo to then having to stick your finger in your mouth to remove a portion, plus it's now easy to get eliquid and ecigs.
