Peter Stokkebye Luxury Bulls Eye Flake

Man, I love this stuff. If you like va/perique blends you got to try this stuff. It's a vaper twist with a cavendish middle cut into coin flakes. It's not quite Escudo but for the price you can't beat it. I just got a 24oz box for about $40 USD. Love Love Love it! Any vaper lovers trying to stash away some great pipe tobacco need to try this stuff. They also have a Navy Flake (which is also great) and a twist flake I haven't tried. Heard good things about the cubed burley as well but haven't tried it yet.

Also found a local source for mason jars at 99cents each! Just got another case. Ok off to jar this stuff up

I bought a couple of ounces of this to sample. It wasn't bad, but it tasted pretty green to me. It's probably much better after at least a couple years of aging.

Yeah, the stuff I'm smoking has only 6 months on it. Still love it. Was trying to stock up on St. James Flake, but man that stuff is hard to come by these days. Have you tried Reiner's blend 71? Got a tin of that I haven't tried. I've read all the va's need age on them, are there any vaper (preferably flakes) that you think are not green right away? Let me know

St. James Flake is by far my favorite, but, as you said, it can be hard to find. Cornell & Diehl Bayou Morning is very good, too. There's also a Bayou Morning Flake, which I haven't tried, but I hear it's made from a different recipe than the ready-rubbed. A lot of people like the McClelland Va/Pers, but I have a hard time getting past the ketchup smell that most McClelland products have.

I must agree, imho it is the best va/per/$ in the world. The twist flake is also a delightful Va flake.

I have a hard time with McClelland's ketchup smell as well. I've been trying to get through a tin of Blackwoods Flake for a while. I did just get a tin of McClelland's Beacon I haven't tried yet, we'll see. I had 4oz of Bayou Morning on that last order from 4noggins and Rich was kind enough to ship the rest of the order ahead while he's waiting on that. Also got some Old Joe Krantz and Three Friars in bulk. OJK is screamin' good.

I just popped the Reiner 71 Long Golden Flake They ain't kidding about LONG. It's a 100g tin with only 4 flakes rolled into a spiral. I'm smoking some now and it's very good.

Wow! That was the easiest flake to smoke ever. Next time I won't rub it out. Stuff burns like a freight train! Damn good stuff though

Amen to the kudos for OJK. It's not for wimps, but it's a damn good blend. The blender named it for his grandfather, and you can see why. It's a real old-fashioned American blend.

Three Friars is a good blend, too, but I don't seem to reach for it very often. I think you'll like the Bayou Morning when it arrives, though, if you like OJK. Haven't tried Rainier LGF, mostly because of the price tag. Maybe I'll pop for a tin when I'm feeling flush.

I love OJK. If burleys do it for you, I highly recommend C&D's Big 'n Burley. Earthy burley taste with a nice kick.

Doesn't Big 'n' Burley have some latakia in it? If so, no thanks, not for me. I loathe the stuff. It's the only oriental leaf I can't stand.

Latakia completely turned on me in the last month. Can't touch it atm. Funny thing is, when I tried Big 'n Burley, I didn't know there was Latakia in it. To this day, I can't taste a drop. They claim it's there, but it sure has no taste if it is.

I have given latakia a good fair shake and so far it's just not my thing. I have a pretty good stockpile of well renowned latakia blends in my cellar, but I just don't get the urge to smoke them. I'll give them a try every so often and keep an open mind, but right now it's everything else but latakia for me.

I find I either desperately want to smoke it, and nothing else will please me, or have no desire. No real middle ground on my moods. To the OP, I got some Peter Stokkebye Luxury Bulls Eye Flake as a sample and really liked it. On my list next time I make a Pipe Tobacco order.

Sadly, in the months leading up to my wedding, I have gotten away from pipes (and snuff). Not sure why, but that should change soon as Debra and I settle into a new routine. Both buying the new amazing Evo with it's 4.2 screen next week. Will mean we can both be together at cafe smoking a pipe and lost in our phones. I am so used to pipes being an alone activity, kinda strange to smoke with someone else. The new phones will mean we can be together while we are "alone".

I've been trying this out lately and it is quite good. I have not tried the flake version yet. The perique really kicks in half way through. Has much more punch than the PSLBF. Also been trying Gawiths LA Perique. It's very good, but you have to like a bit of perfumeyness (must be the "Lakeland scent"). I need to dry out McClelland's Beacon a bit more before I go for it more but the ketchup smell is growing on me with this one...

I've got a tin of McClelland Tudor Castle that I've been airing out for the past couple of months. It's very similar to Beacon, except Tudor Castle also includes some number 1 grade Yenidje. The ketchup smell is almost gone, and I'm looking forward to firing up a bowl.
