Has anyone else been tempted to try other forms of tobacco that maybe aren't so popular in their neck of the woods? Aside from my long-term plan of taking up smoking a pipe when I'm middle aged and have both a suitably cynical outlook on the modern world and an epic handlebar moustache, I'd be interested in trying things like nasal snuff, if just because it strikes me as a little bit silly.
Other niche tobacco products?

Nasal snuff was fun when I was 15, but got bored with it really quickly. I borught like 20 cans from Germany, sold few to my classmates and there are still ~10 cans laying around here somewhere. Just yesterday I found rasperry-flavoured nasal snuff, that one's my favourite and it's aroma kinda brings back memories  . But the burning and wet eyes aren't that funny anymore. Good thing is that a can lasts ridiculously long. If anyone is interested of buying this stuff, pm me  .
I used to smoke a pipe now and then, but I made a mistake by borrowing it to a friend and it got lost. Stupid pot-heads :I .

I once saw a TV show where they were reporting on a regional championship (!!) nasal tobacco snuffing in Bavaria. The men (and ladies!) took snuff, stuffed their nose full and THEN inhaled strongly.
I think because it's big clump instead a thin stream of tobacco it doesn't gather that much speed as to lacerate the insides of the nasal cavity.

Originally posted by marspatukkaAs I said, nasal snuff gets really boring after a while. I couldn't get any nicotine-kick of it, so what's the point.
But, there are many people, who really like the stuff and appreciate the low nicotine.
By the way, I didn't have any problems with my nose.
In addition to nasal snuff, I've tried cigars, cigarillos and pipe smoking, but got mainly hooked on cigarettes for nearly 20 years, until, last december, I've found my true "nicotine-nirvana" in snus and occasional chewing tobacco bits.
Snus is simply the best, I think.

I usually just lurk, but thought I'd pitch in on this one, as I take snuff as well as snus.
With snuff, you sniff gently, so that it doesn't reach the sinuses (no snorting.) In order to avoid the back of the throat drip, use a coarser snuff, as the fine ones take practice, and blow your nose after it's been in your nose a while. The sneezing/watery eyes occur less often the more you use it, and I've noticed the kick is definitely less noticable than snus. For a kick, I generally have to do a snuff session, where I'll sniff every five minutes or so for about forty minutes. It really is quite enjoyable.
The only other tobacco (besides snus and snuff) I would consider "niche" would be Indian Gutka, which I read about on wikipedia, and I don't think I'll try that anytime soon. I do smoke a pipe, though.

I met two Indian guys at a party and asked them about gutka. They told me the same thing: very fermented, very dangerous, very nasty. Comparative to gutka, according to them, smoking is a healthy alternative. I'd stay away from that niche product - I've already found the perfect one (i.e. snus). If you want an exotic product, go for the Makla Ifrikia, another snus-like product. There's a topic on that on this board and even a link for purchasing it, I think.
