Schmalzler is a German style. Coarsely ground, and oily moist. It's on the sweet side, and smells like winter fruits(raisins, rum, fruit cake).

Toast is finely ground, and traditionally plain tobacco, but many, notably Toque flavor them. They are a little trickier for the newb to take, but are very worth it for a simple "plain" scent. The Irish toast is plain tobacco, with a certain nuttiness to it.

Scotch is basically the American version of the English/Irish toast. Ground even finer, is many times smoky, and can also be sweet. The most challenging for the newb imo. They're very difficult to use, but once mastered are a very rewarding snuff.

SP The classic English scent. AFAIC the only true SP is bergamot scented, though some other companies do some weird stuff and call it SP. Toque Original is a fine example.

Medicated is a menthol snuff. They range from warm and rich(McCrystal's O&G) to quite sharp and biting (Hedges).

Kendal Brown is a coarse slightly moist snuff. It smells like it uses tonka bean for scent, but it may be something else(I have a hard time identifying many of the old school English scents).

Perfumed is a highly scented snuff that smells very...um... fru fruish if that makes sense. It's kind of 19th century metro :^D Some I like, some I don't. They can be a bit much, but are nice on occasion.

You have to try them all to decide what you like. It's hard going by other's descriptions. I personally like the German styles. They tend to be moist, and most of the time light-medium menthol. I like the English menthol too, as well as the SPs. Santo Domingo is perfumed, but moist and coarse. That's probably my favorite of that type. Other perfumed smell very flowery, and feminine. Geeze... I like almost all of them, but German is my favorite. I've only had a couple I just didn't like at all. There's some I wouldn't get again, but liked well enough.

This sounds like it would be right up my alley, I guess "Bernard Doppelt Fermentiert" would be an example of this type?

I hope I like the "Toque Lime Toast"

May hold off on this for awhile.

Damn can't believe I only ordered a single bullet of this.

I thought I would try the "Toque Raspberry Menthol"

The Perfumed one might be interesting, sounds more like an acquired taste.

I do want to thank all of you for your input and recommendations.

Yup. It's the definitive example imo. It's the strongest/heaviest in that style.

It's not bad. It's a good snuff, but one I probably won't get again. For Toque toasts, I like Spanish Gem, Whisky/honey. and Cheese/Bacon the best.

I wouldn't call the menthol raspberry a true medicated. Medicated generally refers to menthol, camphor, eucalyptus... Medicinal smelling stuff. The fruit combos are a more modern take on the menthol theme, but not what's traditionally called medicated.

That's lemon and orange scented. Standard English grind(medium fine), and moisture(mostly dry, but not bone dry). It's SPish, but not exactly. I got wet dog scent when I first got it, and I had to put it up for awhile. After letting it mellow for a couple of months, the dog smell was gone. Not everybody gets that, but I did. If you do, just let it sit awhile, and the snuff fairies will fix it up for you :^)

In my experience, Toques from Nicotinerush tend to be very fresh. You might get a strong whiff of wet dog/ammonia when you open up the tin, but if you let it breath overnite or so, it completely disappears. With their incredible selection and always two day delivery to Dallas, Nicotinerush is far more addictive than any of the products they carry. For me, snus is like meat and potatoes. Snuff is like wine, women and song. Or sex, drugs and rock and roll.

Ok guys I couldn’t wait for the shipment from NicotineRush to come in so I drove over to Club Humidor at lunch time and picked up a couple of things (really they only had 2 items) so I got one of each Pöschl’s Gletscher Prise and Packard's Club. I was a little nervous about hitting this stuff thought it was going to take my head off (didn’t know what to expect), but no it was more like a down pillow, very soft and gentle. I think I really like the Gletscher Prise the Packard's Club feels good but not sure what that sent is. May be the Toque Snuff from NicotineRush will be in tomorrow.

Well LaZeR I guess I could have called the thread "New Here" or "New to Snuff" or "New Kid On the Block", but hey "Snuff Virgin" just rolled off the keyboard.

Thats ok. For some reason my mind is always in the gutter. Too much masturbation I guess. But yea back on topic, www.nicotinerush.com will take care of you.
