    Toque Violet

So I don't think I have seen anyone comment on this yet. This is my 2nd time through. Not sure why IU missed it the first time, but I am really loving this now.

I can't describe flavors, just don't have the words. Snuff is just so experiential.

But I can say it tastes old to me. Probably what I love most about snuff is being suddenly transported to an earlier time. I never know when, I can't connect the smell witha anything specific. Just that I remeber I used to smell this when I was young sometime.

I think reason I am not a huge fruit flavor fan. Oh, I have my Raspberry and Pomegranate sometimes. Good to take a break sometimes, reset my palate (seems like I use fruit flavored stuff a lot for that) But the snuff I LOVE, the snuff that really moves me, is snuff that just takes me back to an early time in my life.

Violet just does that for me.

So I seem to have a bit of a problem. Strangest day ever ordering tobacco today. Spent over $200, and I am getting like 10 cans of snus. Now, part of that was I ordered two rolls plus a few things for a friend here who can use the help. Just paying forward some of what I have received lately. But I spent close to $70 at Nicotine Rush, and THAT is my real issue.

Sure, I bought a metal bullet finally for $10. But $60 spent on snuff???

I already have 12 cans open that I use in rotation. I can't even go through everything I have in a month. But the more I use, the more compelled I am to try even more.

So this is what I got today.

      1 ea. Toque Chocolate 10g Tin $2.89
      1 ea. Toque Apricot 10g $2.89
      1 ea. Toque Natural 10g Tin $2.89
      1 ea. Toque Pomegranate 25g Tin $4.89
      2 ea. Toque Whisky & Honey 10g Tin $5.78
      1 ea. Fribourg & Treyer Old Paris 25g $6.59
1 ea. Metal Snuff Bullet - Silver $9.95
      2 ea. Toque Coke 10g Tin $5.78
      1 ea. Toque SP Extra 10g $2.89
      1 ea. Fribourg & Treyer Morocco 25g $6.59
      1 ea. Toque Rose 25g Tin $4.89
1 ea. Bernard Brasil Doppelt Fermentiert 10g $3.89

Both the Whiskey & Honey and Coke purchases were for other folks. Everything else is for me.

I am most excited about the F&T snus. The Old Paris I finally had a chance to try was the first ever non Toque snuff I have loved. I got the Morocco just on a whim after reading the one review...."My first Fribourg & Treyer, and I'm already impressed with the brand. It has a flora aroma, sweet and just a little spicy. I haven't tried a snuff quite like it."

But I am most excited about the Bernard Brasil Doppelt Fermentiert. Made by Germany's oldest snuff company, I just stumbled upon it and was drawn in my this review...."Rich, thick and delish. This snuff goes on my tv tray along with a couple other delectables; Swiss Chocolate, Zweifacher and Hopfen. Snuffs I can pound for hours on end, calorie-free desserts, perfect with races, football and golf tourneys. Dates, figs, dark liqueurs and spices all melting into a single guiltless pleasure. Low to medium nicotine making for quick and easy finishes to the tins. A thoroughly enjoyable alternative to a fine cigar. Delicious stuff and an easy 4 plus..... just too low in nicotine to warrant a 5." ojthedog - Courtesy of Snuffreviews.com

The rest is just a bunch of Toque I have wanted to try, plus a refill of a few things I am either out or close to it. I especially wanted to try the Toque SP Extra and the Toque Natural.

So on top of the 12 cans I already have open, I am getting 9 more. Figure I take 3 -4 days going through a typical bullet, I will now be taking close to 3 months to cycle through everything I have. And that is assuming I don't start buying all the other F&T snuffs too...sigh.

And I used to think I had a problem buying too much snus <says the man with 85+ cans in his freezer>

The F&T Morocco is really good, as well as the Toque Pomegranate. I've also tried the Toque Chocolate and liked that too. Looks like a nice batch you ordered!

My own latest order from Toque was:
Apricot, Blueberry Menthol, Bourbon, Champagne, Natural, Original, Peach, Pomegranate, Raspberry Menthol, Toast & Marmalade. All of them are new to me except for the Pomegranate...think that one will be a steady one in my supply  Just ordered it over the weekend so it'll probably get here by this weekend or Tuesday.

Have you tried any of Wilson's? They have some very good ones including the only floral that I've really liked so far, which is Rose, and I like their Raspberry better than any of the others I've tried. Then there's chocolate orange, mmmmmm...and crumbs of comfort....and tangerine...

Wilsons is gonna be next after F&T for me to explore.

Other than you liking any mentholated snuff, I like your order. Pomegranate is one of the two fruit flavors I use. That was one I mentioned I had to refill in fact.

This is my current rotation. And yes, all Toque. Until I tried the F&T Old Paris, I had never had a non Toque I really liked, and have actually tried a number of them. But my current loves.....

Toque Vanilla - relatively new to me, only a few passes with it. Not sure how remarkable it is yet

Toque Raspberry - My other fruit flavor, been usiong since almost the beginning. Xobe sent me this can when he sent me his snuff box he nevr used.

            Toque Expresso.
_ seem to frequently skip this one. I liked it, but probably haven't had any in 4 months, no idea why, other than I choose others first.

Toque Violet - new absolute favorite - see review above,

            Toque Spanish Gem
            - new to me, I expect and hope it will become a fast favorite, a bit strong in taste. Not quite as bad as Absinthe was (which Badfish took in Box 1) But a sharp flavor that takes a bit of adjustment. But each time I use, I am liking more and more

Toque Coke - HUGE new favorite. Coke is so heavy, I can do massive amounts. This and Whiskey & Honey, I can finish a bullet in a day. I will just use over and over. Really tastes like cola too.

Toque Whiskey & Honey - my first ever, still my favorite. Although a bunch of competition nipping at it's heals. Another snuff I can use massive amounts in a day, An, along with Coke, seems to get pulled into my daily use faqr more frequently than others.

Toque Lavender - Still not loving this one yet. Need to use a few more times, but just too, I'm not sure, sweet, Taste is OK, but maybe just not for me. But again, I need to use a bunch more before I am sure.

Toque Toast & Marmalade - unique, VERY difficult to use, have to be very careful to use small amounts. Interesting taste, but I struggle to get through it when i am using it. I suspect it will get dropped from rotation after maybe one or two more tests, especially with everything that I have coming. Plus, something I would throw in as Bonus on a Box Pass, cause I know someone will REALLY want to try it.

            Toque Pomegranate
            - see above, i love this, another snuff I can use massive amounts. Why it is only the third ever snuff I have to re-order

            Toque Bourbon
            - One of my first ever snuffs, really liked it. But haven't seemed to sue this one either in close to 4 months. Again, not sure why, just choose others.

            Toque Champagne
            - Was an early favorite, still use occasionally. But other things have interested me more as of late. Tastes just like Champagne btw

The Toque vanilla is good, but not as strong as the vanilla in the Lotzbeck, which I like just a little better. Ditto for the Espresso...just seems very lightly scented after I tried the Wow Coffee Bites (which is amazing).

Bigbuyer suggested I try the Spanish Gem, and I'm liking that one alot. I don't think it's moved off of my desk since I got it! I also did like the Absinthe and ordered a tin of that after getting it as a sample. Just tried the Coke too and liked it even though I'm a Pepsi person :P The Whiskey and Honey was also a sample sent to me with an order, and although I don't use it all the time, I do dip into it every once in a while when I want something a little plainer than usual.

                I have a stupid question...

How long do you keep this stuff in? Do you blow your nose after a while?

This is where it can get a bit gross....
If I am lightly snuffing, every couple of hours or so I don't need to blow my nose more than normal. However if snuffing more or using a very mentholated snuff, you do need to blow your nose more often. Best not to use your best white linen handkerchiefs though!! What goes up looking like a fine brown powder comes down looking like.. well you can guess.

You also need to give your nose a quick dusting down after using as the stuff seems to go everywhere.

LOL, I am SO good at wiping up after myself. I still remember my first week, looking in the mirror and being horrified at how I got it all over myself.

I hate mentholated, have never used any since my first few weeks.

Using regular, it is almost never an issue. I do find that if I am using heavy, heavy, it can build up and taking the time to try and clean some out is a bit wise.

I do make it a habit every morning in the hot shower to make sure everything is cleaned out.

But for most of my every day use, just never even think about it.

So you just keep using it throughout the day and then give it a good blow later with a quick cleaning in the shower? I just tried some Ozona Orange Snuff, first time using the stuff. I took it about an hour ago, not sure what to do now.

But yes, that is basically it. It doesn't harm anything when it gathers for a while in your nose. If you must, pick it. Trust me, snuff users pick their noses.

I'm almost the exact opposite, at first I preferred the dry UK/US type of non mentholated snuff but moved over the the more moist mentholated German types.

I would however kill for Toque Absinthe and St Clements

Just got the St. Clements via Nicotine Rush this morning, haven't tried it.

I liked that Absinthe but eventually, decided the taste was just too rich & overwhelming for me, gave it away in the first Box Pass.

But will probably get again one day, just for very occasional use.

And I know some folks swear by mentholated snuff. I just despised it, to "medicine" like for me, ruins the whole experience for me.

I was looking for cool non menthol alternatives. I got some Wilsons Camphor and Mild, and it's not bad, but not cool. I am curious about Wilsons Aniseed Eucalyptus.

Sounds a similar effect that wintergreen snus has on me!!

All this talk of snuff made me check out my supply box. I've got 7 tins that I haven't tried yet, tonight will be fun..
