I have always thought of nasal snuff as sort of taboo since i had never seen or heard of anyone using it. But it seems some of you may have had some experience with it so I must ask, what the **** is it and how does it work?

I mean do you go buy an 8 ball of snuff and just rack out some fatties or what? Does it feel like snus, does it ahrm you, does it hurt, is it ebtter/worse than snus?

You use a small pinch, and breathe it in lightly. I use it mainly for the scent, but you do get nicotine out of it. I think it's safer than snus, but not as satisfying in the nicotine dept.

What is it? nasal snuff is very finely ground tobacco, sometimes plain, sometimes scented with things like bergamot, menthol, floral essences, etc.

How does it work?: nasal snuff is sniffed, not snorted. Pinch some between your thumb and index finger, bring it to your nostril, and lightly sniff it. The idea is to get it in the front part of the nose, not up in your sinuses. If you sniff too hard, it will hit the back of your throat, and you don't want that.

Does it feel like snus?: I'm not sure exactly what you mean. It will burn a bit (like snus) when you first start using it.

Does it harm you?: nasal snuff is pretty harmless. As far as I can tell there's never been a recorded case of nose/throat cancer caused by use of nasal snuff.

Is it better or worse than snus?: It's different.

How to use. First, DON'T treat it like coke or meth. You gently sniff it, you want it to go no further than just on the inside of your nose. You are NOT inhaling it. The nicotine is absorbed through the mucus membranes in your nose, similar to how nicotine is absorbed in our mouth with snus. So just a gentle sniff. Honestly, usually, I am doing no more than breathing deeply.

Initial dose should be no bigger than a pea. Adjust from there as you get some experience. You do too much at first, your head will hurt and it is not pleasant.

Studies have shown even less harm from snuff than snus. It is the oldest way of taking tobacco used in Europe, existed as such long before cigarettes. Snuff became a mostly British thing, so great snuff from all over their empire. Also snuff in Germany and some fine American made snuff as well.

I use snuff WITH snus. My snus takes care of maintaining my desired nicotine levels throughout the day. I just use snuff when i feel like that little "bump". Again, it just always makes me feel good and tastes SO good!!

If you are a newbie looking to experience snuff for the first time, I can not recommend Torque snuff enough. You can get it directly from them, or from nicotinerush.com, or even Northerner sells it now. For newbies, Torque is just easy, and all the flavors are fantastic. As you get more comfortable, there is literally a world of snuff waiting for you. Far more varsities than snus.

And if you are really serious, check out snuffhouse.org as well. Many folks from here a re there too, and they have some great how-to's on their site.

lol, will this leave a powdery residue around or inside the nostril that will make everyone wonder if your a crackhead or is this pretty discreet. Do they make bullets for it like they used to use fo rblow in the 80's? lol

Any brand thats the best to start with? Curiouse about trying this out.

Has anyone ever sat down while reading shit on this forum and thought to themselves "what the ****, this turned from smoking a cig when i was 15 to now im importing shit from sweden and snorting tobacco powder, what the **** am I doing with my life"? lol if I come home and begin sniffing white powder off my fingers my ****ing wife is going to take my child and move to the philipines for God's sake.

I've always been interested in tobacco in all it's forms. I first tried snuff when I was 13 or 14(Navy scotch). I sniffed it too hard, and it almost killed me :^D I revisited the American snuffs last year, and became interested enough to try the English, and European brands. I now have over 100 snuffs in my collection, and I use it every day. I still consider myself primarily a snuser, but snuff has added much enjoyment to life :^)

On many, many occasions, I have gotten strange looks or comments from folks when i use my snuff. I always have to explain that, no, it isn't brown cocaine.

But always does lead to some interesting conversations about snus, snuff, and the ways I don't use cigarettes any more.

And other than if you are a slob like me, it doesn't leave any tell tale signs. took me a while to learn not to spill on myself though.

And yes, they do make bullets for it. I use one, but not for it's intended purpose as the does metered out is too small. But it is THE most convenient way for me to pour out the right size dose on the webbing between my thumb and forefinger.

I have become major snuff pusher just because I love the effects. It would never replace snus. But that added little bump you get just feels SO good!

Wow it sounds delicious, I definately must go try some. Sometimes I am the same way id like a little nicotene bump and dont want to wait 20 min for the snus to kick in properly on a white portion.

I just have been extremely grateful I finally did. I am as addicted to my snuff now as I am to snus. Definitely give Touque a try, I can not begin to say how happy their snuff makes me. I have tried a bunch of others, some I didn't like and some I expect I will come to love as I get more experienced. But almost every single Touque I tried I loved, and cycle through about 11 flavors now.

hahhahahaha...yeah i question myself sometimes with snus. But hey, think optimistic about it. Its nice way to enjoy tobacco, and much safer than cigarettes. Just don't let tobacco use get out of hand, enjoy it and live your life. Tobacco for me, is such a pleasurable habit, and as long as my health stays fine...at the my old age of 21, I will continue to enjoy it.

lol yah im feeling like my body needs a rest and im just turning 23. Not likely it'll get one anytime soon though.

I just hope I dont end up like that dudes brother in "lord of war" and wind up with someone finding me somewhere in south america in a jungle den with a map of the united states drawn out in snuff wearing nothing but a tank top breaking into a sweat and brown powder all over my face.

No, not really, but that was damn funny.

In Germany, nasal snuff was pretty popular among schoolkids in the early 80's. I remember when I tried to take a pinch during a lesson and the teacher just said: "you can as well sniff your snuff after the lesson". That was before the anti-smoking-education became the ridiculous anti-tobacco-crusade of today. I wonder what teachers would say now.

Nicotine-wise nasal snuff isn't comparable with snus or cigarettes, but it's worth a try. The nicotine-impact is somewhat low but pleasant, especially in comination with snus.
