I'm signed on no problem today. I think the problem is fixed.

The domain has been transferred to Snuffhouse.org from www.Snuffhouse.org

Here's their note at the top of the forum

That really doesn't make much sense...

There are quite a number of sites that I log on to with or without the www...

There's a setting somewhere so that either one will resolve but it's been quite a while since I've had to fuss with that!!

That's something for snuffhouse to resolve or they're gonna end up with a lot of people not accessing the site.

It does make sense, it's probably that you don't understand exactly what the difference between having www or using a domain without www.

First of all you can use both ... and then the search engines sees them as two different websites... :-) That's not recommended.
                    Here's a more elaborate answer - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1...mary-site-name

I always have the 'www' for my sites, it's better when it comes to search engine optimization for a whole lot of reasons.

In my opinion it's quit unprofessional to do something like that to an established forum without a pre-announcement of some sort. Seemingly it caused quite a bit of trouble..

I like the site but there is not much about it that I would call professional. Not trying to criticize, glad it is there and awesome they work on it. But the development and resource level is not up there with other community sites, considering the user base.

It's pretty impossible to change the software now.... It uses vanilla that's a free forum software... going to Vbulletin is a headache...

snuson.com resolves to www.snuson.com and they both resolve to http://www.snuson.com/forum/

As far as search engines go, as long as the results are forthcoming it really doesn't matter...
the point is not to let viewers have to fend for themselves to get to a website.

IMO, the KISS philosophy is really the only way to go, since most people will quickly move on to something else if they have to play detective!

It is more than just the choice of BB/forum software that I say that. I am not wanting to harp on it, I like the site, just was saying I don't hold it to professional standards it could not meet. There is nothing particularly wrong with that, was just trying to put things in perspective.

Having been online for over 10 years, forums are fairly new to me ... never had the time to spend with them.

That being said, I know I've been spoiled with the ease of use (overall) of Snuson ... as much as I think Snuffhouse has good information worth pursuing, it's kinda like stumbling around in a dark cave with a weak torch.

I have built and run several over the years. Actually in the process of selling a site right now, well selling is an interesting choice of words. The software itself, Vanilla, is one that has had my eye for a while. I just don't believe the site is intended for a "professional" display. I only meant to put certain critiques in scope. I have no problem with any lack of "proffessional" feel to the site.
