I live in the U.K and have no problem with snuffing in public, I think there still is a memory of snuff use here so most people pay it no mind. My sense is that in the U.S it is much easier to attract social disapproval.

I know right? I have often asked myself that same question. The whole original no-smoking push was because we were protecting others from 2nd hand smoke. Now that 90% of the places are smoke free everyone is switching to the no-tobacco policy (like colleges, hospitals, some airlines, etc.)

It's none of their f**king business if I want to have a portion in my mouth. As long as tobacco is legal and not a controlled substance and doesn't affect anyone else they should not have the right to dictate my behavior. It's the anti-tobacco nazis pushing their agenda as I have been saying all along.

Isn't that when you spit it in someone's eyes? Secondhand snus should only be used as a defensive measure.

The thing is though, that, to many peeps, smoking = tobacco ....
    Therefore, NO TOBACCO.

Tobacco sounds classier than smoking -- and we must be classy!!

Snuff is quite nasty to be consumed in public. I remember when I was snuffing in public I always used to have snuff around my nostrils and especially in the cold season the brown mucus was dripping out of my nose.

You need to look in a mirror pretty often just to avoid getting weird looks.

Cool I'll get some next week when the wife and
I go shopping so I can send you the WE Garrett both
kinds. The grind is fine not as fine as the elephant I don't think. Wish I could send more but all I actually bought is toque and the Garrett lol. Everything else I got are in the little zip locks I got
from some fine folks on here from trades etc.

Those English tins do look classy.. The past week I've been on an American scotch kick and I can't stand the we garrett tin. I mean it's cool and all with the history factor but it has the hillbilly vibe. I was browsing eBay the other day looking at antique snuff boxes and all which are pretty cool but it may look like I'm a higher class druggy lol. I'm not going to worry so much and just enjoy the experience.

I've had some luck explaining that the tin I'm fiddling with is traditional Engiish nasal snuff and that it's fantastic stuff and is safe as houses. Helps if I'm using F&T with it's "Est. 1720 in Haymarket, London" on it. That angle usually deflects the "ew" factor and plays into the trace of anglophilia that the many of us former colonials are prone to. Works most every time. Even had a couple of folks, smokers of course, express interest and at least one is now on the snuff wagon.

They have their addictions; nicotine is one of mine.
Ha ha... I gotta remember that about going finding a cigarette if a non smoker gives me grief about snuff or snus, and very true that they have their addictions; nicotine is one of mine
