Just wondering is there any reason not to use PG based flavourants? apart from lowering the PH.
Can we use PG based flavours?

No reason really ... PG is used by the mainstream manufacturers as a humectant in tiny quantities anyway. The only thing to watch is that PG itself is very very sweet and if you use more than a very small amount in a batch it can give the snus a cloying sweetness that you may not wish.Squeezyjohn
Sometimes wrong and sometimes right .... but ALWAYS certain!!!

Sweden has a law for food additives that you cannot use more than 4.0% PG in a food product, & snus is considered food in Sweden. USP grade Propylene glycol is used, and most manufacturers are right on the edge of that limit. So I wouldn't say it is tiny quantities, and it is also tasteless in pure form. If you are using PG that has a taste or sweetness, it's not to the same quality that is used in the manufacturing of Swedish snus.Originally posted by squeezyjohn View PostNo reason really ... Thanks both
I've been using some of the strong USP/BP grade PG based flavours I know from eliquid DIY, flavourart, Capella etc non of this eBay bulk cakemaking rubbish.
Basically I'm just using SnusX portions & mixing the flavour in during hydration & so far I've had pleasently good results, not production standards but good enough not to bin them & at £7 ish for 240 portions cheap enough to not worry about ruined batches.
Quite fun actually playing about with flavours, have noticed it's a damn sight harder to adjust recipies in snus than in eliquid & PG flavours need a good week or more to really settle.
