    Why are minis full price?

This isn't just a SM issue, but I would like to hear the justification for charging the same amount of money for 10 grams of tobacco as 24 or 45-50 grams. Heck the cans are even smaller.

I would like to see minis come in cans of 40 portions or pay 1/2 the cost for the 20 portion cans.

Perhaps it's because the minis are harder to wrap.
Perhaps it's because some of the minis have the same amount of nicotine.

perhaps they are simply ripping us off...........
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

I suspect that it's because the cost of tobacco and materials is a small percentage of manufacturing snus. The manufacturing process, packaging, handling, etc. all cost the same as the regular portions...

I always wondered that myself, but I guess it's like meds. If you have the same drug in 10mg and 20mg, they're usually the same price even though they have different amounts of the med. Gotta be the processing that determines the price.

I never expected to get more cigarettes if I bought lights over regulars. But I didn't expect to get less.

Perhaps we'll have to pump this thread when those socialist Swedes get back from there summer vacation.

Someone explain to me how that one's done. I thought...

              Never mind.

Well if the light cigarettes were half as short containing half as much tobacco I'd understand it.

I know in Norway, løs just went up a bit in price due it being taxed by the gram. A can of portion will run you 55kr, while a can of løs will run you 70kr. Infact, price for løs would be nearly double if the manufacturers charged double. Also, Norway taxes cigarettes more than snus due to the Swedish research showing snus being significantly healthier. If you live in Norway you can probably import mini-portions and pay less than half the tax, if its caught in customs at all (50/50 chance).

Using the same logic though for processing, maxi portions should also be cheaper.

Hopefully more competition within the snus business will drive mini portions down in price. Honestly I'd consider trying some where they not over twice the price per gram.

However, hopefully a machine will come akin to the cigarette rolling machine for home personal use. Buy your løs snus, then you can make your own portions at home in whatever size you wish. I'm not sure though, I do believe portion snus is processed slightly different aswell. My attempts at ripping open portions and baking them failed miserably. That could be because it was white portion, I don't know.

Portioned snus, original or whites, does not seem to me, to be just los in a bag. Los snus is firm dough like, and portions are not like that.

Why? Because people will pay it.

Specifically, people will pay for convenience. That is the primary reason for minis.

Actually the general minis are 10 grams. 20 1/2 gram portions.

It's a bit of a rip-off for me. My nicotine needs are not so high and I would like to keep it that way. I do just fine with mostly minis. Just give me 24 and I would be happy.

And how about a few more non-flavored flavors. As in Grovsnus.

Well I think the answer is obvious:
Swedish Match operates a 56% margin on snuff.
