Crap! I guess because northerer did it for me twice before, I didn't think it would be a problem. What are the laws in Rhode island? My gf lives there, I could always have it shipped there.

That's doable.

Be sure to contact your CC bank and have her address added to your card as another shipping address.

FYI: Swedish Post shipments through USPS seem to have no problems even in MA since both those entities are governed by some International Treaty that even Myassachusetts can't circumvent.



As long as your gf is a keeper that might be your best bet
since you can at least track your order with UPS but not USPS.

Also, there's some good pertinent info in this thread so spend
some time checking it out.

Thanks for the welcome. One last question for now. Adding an alternate shipping to my credit card, is that only for out of country orders? I have shipped to alternate locations without calling them, but that wad for orders from places in the us.

You can first try placing the order and if it gets rejected then call your CC bank.

Banks in the US are leary of international orders due to problems with fraud.


As far as US orders my Northerner orders were also rejected for an alternate address until I called the 800 number on the back of my card.

Just a follow-up: My SNUS came in yesterday. None missing as I feared would be the case from customs. Total cost?? 100 dollars less than it would have cost me from northerner for the same order. Took about 4 days longer, but I guess I will just prep for that in the future..

Here's a Catch 22 for you. Massachusetts has outlawed tobacco shipments to the state. Haven't heard that that has been nullified ....... I get around that BS by having mine sent to a UPS Store in a nearby state and pay a $3 handling fee per package.

I'd contact SC asap and find out how they will deal with your problem. My experience (and that of others here) is that SC is very customer oriented so you should get satisfaction once they're aware of the situation.



Hopefully your order will slip through the cracks, though, and you can snus to your heart's content.

This is strange. I have been ordering from Northerner since they announced that they were available in MA again and have not had any problems. Most recent order was received last week.

Is the store in NH Ayoette's Smokin' Joe in Hudson, or is there another place up there selling General?
Last time I was at Smokin' Joe they were sold out of General.

Points to ponder:

You don't even have to get a PO Box ($105/yr for a small box!!);
they have package pickup for $3.00 and they'll even sign for your package.
Great for the occasional parcel! You'll have to make sure your CC
company has the UPS Store authorized on your card as a shipping
address, though.

I'd call an accessible/closest UPS Store in the next state over and get
all the details; I think these are franchises (à la Mailbox Etc) so there
may be some policy variances.

[Each store sets their own policies for this service so make sure the
store you're interested in will give you what you need; otherwise
check out another one, if possible.]

Call the UPS Store you want to deal with and get the details.

You'll have to make sure your CC company has the UPS Store
address authorized on your card as a shipping address.
[You don't even tell them it's a UPS Store -- just give them
the address.

This is also the address you use with Northerner/Getsnus or whatever
vendor you'll be using with UPS. At N/GS you should have no problem
placing your order (unless something has drastically changed since
I set up my account).]

This works out great even if all you want to do is eliminate the hassle
of being available waiting for a UPS delivery.

Evidently I never received that 'memo' or I simply overlooked it since my alternate system worked so well, even for non-tobacco deliveries (no more sitting around hoping to be available when UPS came calling).

Just tried a trial order and when I went to change my shipping address there was this notice:

If you live in any of these states: Iowa or South Dakota, we are unfortunately not allowed to sell tobacco to you.

It does look like MA is longer on the banned UPS list.

Something to consider for the next order but I do like
not having to wait around to sign for a UPS shipment.
That alone is worth the $3 fee!!

I called a UPS store in Seabrook, NH today, and they said that they would accept and hold a package for me, but there would be a $10 fee per package and they would most likely be opening it up to see what's inside. The fee seemed a bit high and them opening the package seemed a bit sketchy, but I suppose I can understand their suspicion when someone calls and asks to have something delivered to their store. I might try a few other UPS stores and see what their responses are. Mass snusers, is this still a better option than trying to get a shipment directly to MA?

Nice to see that MA is off the banned list. I might still go with a local UPS store, just for the convenience. Now to find one that only charges $3 . . .
