Why is everything on Northerner backordered?

Apparently I'm out of the loop on this. I've been running low on my stash since last week, but I can't order anything I want to because it's all backordered on Northerner. What the heck is up? Was this planned and passed on to us and I just missed the news or what?

I think it was unanticipated Pre-PACT rush. I'm still waiting for an order from the 19th.

Been waiting for my order for weeks now. If you order something expect it to show up around a month later. They didn't prepare for pact at all and didn't forsee that people were planning on stocking up so now they have nothing to sell. If it says backorder 1-3 days it means weeks, not days.

Wonder if Northerner let the stocks dwindle down because I posted on another thread that they may have faced a Floor Tax on all Tobacco products in stock. I smoke pipes too and I can remember reading about retailers possibly being faced with that sort of tax because of some kind of legislation going through. Not sure but it may be the reason orders are trickling out. The folks at Northerner may be keeping as little stock as possible on hand over here to keep from getting a massive charge from having to pay taxes on their inventory. If thats the case I cant blame them. Its hard to tell how much money that would set them back.

What may be at least partly at work here is manufacturer unwillingness to rapidly, read expensively, ramp up production for a demand spike in a single as yet small market. The rest of the snus world is unaffected, directly, by PACT so I'm sure that even the big boys like SM are not keen on diverting product stream from established mature markets to temporarily service the exigent lunacies of our particular version of the nanny-state. Europe generally is also largely hyper anti-tobacco but its strictures have been in place for a good while now so are known and relatively stable quantities. The U.S. snus-tail has a long and laborious wag to go before it ever graduates to the, er, snus-dog.

I would like to know just how many orders Northerner has got in the past month. It'd be interesting to know how many of us crazy snus nuts are over here in the US.

Which shops are shipping quickly right now, if any? Getsnus.com?

I have also been out of the loop, low on money and my stash has gotten seriously small. I put in an order with Northerner a week ago and it's been "pending" ever since.

If there's another shop online that can get the shipment in the mail quickly I might have to cancel the Northerner order.

The only thing I can get locally is General (regular portions and white portions). I need some starks!

Well, It wasn't quick but I put in an order with getsnus for a roll of Thunder Frosted Minis on Wednesday of last week and Ups sent me the tracking page for it today. It's just now shipping and will be here Thursday, which might be actually kind of quick compared to some other horror stories I'm reading here.

I'm sure things will turn around. I think for a while we were all getting spoiled with the way things were going. More and more online shops were popping up, with warehouses in the US, and selection was growing every day.

I was used to being able to let my stash dwindle to nearly nothing before placing an order and have no worries that I wouldn't run out. This time, I may actually run out before my order shows up (which means General OPs at $6 a tin from the local tobacco shop ... then again, maybe they don't even stock it anymore) .

Great!!! Placed an order last week. Got enough to get by another week but then its cigs or camel snus. I'm not going back to cigarettes. This whole back order thing sucks. Hope they get a massive shipment soon!!!!!

Have you seen the video of the SM production line? They could stock the entire US warehouse in about 5 minutes!
