    Gellivare and Landströms

    I've got two questions here:

Has anyone asked, or does anyone know, why Buysnus.com doesn't carry these two brands?

How strong is the bergamot flavor in Landströms? I thought I was really going to like bergamot snus, but to my surprise I have found that i don't really care for it. I've had Skruf Original, Offroad Original, and a couple of others I can't remember, and none have really done much for me. I'm still going to try Landströms when I finally place an order with Northerner, but I'm wary of it.

I've inquired about Landströms and Gellivare at Buysnus, and here was their response:

    "Hi

We always have discussions about which snus kinds we should have in our web shop. At the moment we will not launch Landströms and Gelliverare snus but we might do that in the future."

In the can of Landströms I got, the bergamot flavor was very subtle. I would have thought the tobacco was completely unflavored if you asked me. They're a very small company though, and the flavor profile may vary from batch to batch. Both of these are my favorite lös snus so far, and I'd love to see Buysnus start carrying them. I'd never have to order from The Northerner again.

Thanks for the reply Ixskllr, I think I may send an email to Buysnus encouraging them to carry these two, using something along the lines of "then I would never order from Northerner and only use buysnus.com for my snus purchases". Maybe a little reminder of the competition would encourage them further.

Thanks for the opinion on the Landströms, I am much less worried now. How does it compare to the Gellivare? Are they quite different snus's? I'm thinking about just buying a roll of each so I don't have to order from Northerner twice, because I'm fairly sure I am going to like them enough to get through 2 rolls, with all the positive reviews I have read.

      Aloha,

        what's the problem with northerner?

Just wonder what your problem with northerner.com is? I have been using them for years without any kind of problem, speedy delivery and low prices... maybe there is something I'm not aware of?

They're quite different in an unflavored tobacco sort of way if that makes sense. The Landströms is a bit lighter in flavor, and it has a coarser cut. It has a grassy character, with vanilla overtones. The Gellivare is darker/smoky with a finer cut. Someone here compared it to Copenhagen dip, and I can sort of see that, but not really. It doesn't have the fiery burn, nor the salt of Copenhagen.

Both are rather dry as far as snus goes, and very tough to bake. The Gellivare I can make a decent pris out of, but the Landströms really requires an IceTool, or something similar. I've always been against gadgets to use snus with, but I'm currently awaiting an IceTool pretty much solely to use Landströms with.

One other thing...You'll get occasional grit in these snus'. It's kind of like eating a spinach salad, and getting some sand in the spinach. It's not loaded with it or anything, but it's something to be aware of. I'm not sure I'd recommend ordering whole rolls right off the bat. This stuff is unique in the snus world, and may not ultimately be to your liking. Everybody's tastes are different, and while I love both of them, you may not.

I've placed 2 problem free orders with The Northerner, but I prefer to shop at 1 store wherever possible. Also, others have had problems with slow shipping, and slow contact for email requests. Buysnus I've actually had some shipping issues with(once a forgotten roll of snus, and once a envelope ripped during shipping and I lost a can), but they've sorted out the problems quickly, and even gave me some bonus stuff for the trouble. That's the mark of a good seller. Every company's great when there aren't any problems, it's when problems occur that you find out how good a store is. Buysnus has me as a customer for as long as I'm buying snus.

I don't have any problem with Northerner; I've never even ordered from them. However, I think Buysnus is fantastic. They have been an excellent store for me to do business with, and like Ixskllr said, my problems with them have been few, but when they have happened, they have been speedily rectified and have always thrown something extra in to make up for it. Also, I think their prices tend to be a bit lower than Northerner's, and I can't seem to get a cheap shipping option from Northerner like I can with Buysnus. Another reason is Buysnus's "6th Roll" scheme, if I'm buying rolls, I may as well get them from Buysnus and rack up some points for a discount. But most of all, I just want to keep giving Buysnus my business because they've treated me right, every time.

@Ixskllr: Yah, I suppose I should hold off on the roll buying until I've tried them. But I know I'm going to like them, I can feel it in my bones, man.

ok, I have the same experience

I have ordered both from Northerner and Buysnus and I didn't find any big difference, Northerner also answer emails promptly and ships fast. Since I like Gellivare I usually always order from Northerner.

Man, this guy must work for Northerner or something. Go and read all his past posts, they are all about Northerner or some product Northerner is selling. If you want to know the problems with Northerner they are: No cheap shipping options, you have to use regestered mail if not UPS(which involves picking your order up at the Post Office) and the discounts offered don't compare. So, its more work and more expensive.

I still order the Landstroms from them. I think Landstroms tastes like a chocolaty version of Gotlands Yellow. I am not a big fan of the Gellivare, it leaves a bad aftertaste in my mouth.

I'm definitely trying these. Anything that can be compared to Gotlands Yellow has got to be good. I've also noticed that I share very similar tastes to yours Kindrd, it's actually almost scary, like you're stalking me and writing down my most frequently enjoyed snus. Except for the Gustavus, because I just haven't had that yet.

The Landstoms is a must IMO, very tasty. You almost have to have a Icetool or Prismaster though because it won't bake otherwise. I am sure you will soon add Gustavus to your list.

I have not tried Gellivare but i have tried Landstroms snus. I did not like it at all and its the only can of snus i could not finish. I still got half the tin in my freezer if anyone wants it lol. I found it to be the closest thing to american dip IMO and i just cant stand the american stuff anymore after using swedish snus. The look, feel, and taste just reminded me of american dip way to much and i couldn't handle it anymore.

As for northerner and buysnus i have placed orderd through both and right now i prefer buysnus just because it is a few bucks cheaper and there packages seem to arrive on time usually. I do liike northerner for their loose serlection though. They seem to have at least 5 or 6 kinds that buysnus does not have.

I have really tried hard to get into American snuff in the past. The smell of it just gave me the willies though and the taste wasn't much better. Yet I really like both Gellivare and Landstroms. So I guess it is an individual thing.
