ATTENTION ALL SNUSERS! A call to action...

If you love snus and nasal snuff, then be prepared to defend your right to import and consume it.

Do your part and send an email to your representative in the US Senate, urging them to vote "no" on H.R. 1676 (the PACT legislation). Be part of the solution, not the problem! Apathy and not taking action supports this bill. A very tangible goal is to flood the email inboxes of our representatives with public outcry from us snusers!

Log on to www.senate.gov and find your representative! Go to their respective websites and bombard them with emails!

Stress the discirmination against Native Americans inherent in this bill. Remember, we are dealing with liberal politicians here. Speak their language. "Discrimination" is a four-letter word in liberal-speak.

    Let your voice be heard!

    Done.

But I don't think they'll get it. Politicians tend to be rather dense.

Besides, they are not going to vote to NOT receive extra tax revenue, which is what the PACT Act is all about.

CoderGuy: first, welcome to snuson. Always nice to see a fellow Seattle snuser here. 2nd, scroll down in this section to the thread that starts with WA resident? Class C felony.... You already probably found it, but the links to the bill are there. It's quite ambiguously written, probably much like the Utah bill. I have not placed any emergency orders... I'm actually waiting til after the bill takes effect to try it. If I'm screwed, looks like I'll be collecting my snus shipments at my brother's house in Portland.

Roo, thank you, nice to be here. Yes, unfortunately I have already read it and realize we are screwed. I posted the info to the e-cigarette-forum that I also frequent and surprisingly all the Washingtonians did not know about it either.

I thought about getting an outside PO Box but my credit card would still have my WA address, and I know from experience from trying to buys cigarettes online a few years ago that they go by your billing address.

At least we can still buy Camel SNUS and General snus locally (for twice the price but still).

Damn, good point on the credit card billing address... If it comes down to it I'll open a CC account at my brother's address, and I can order snus for you and anyone else who wants to come to my house to get it after I pick up my deliveries. I've never tried Camel and I don't want to start now... but I do work in Pioneer Square a block away from the Tobacco Patch that sells General on Yesler. That guy is really cool. Maybe I can talk him into ordering other brands at a price. In any case, lets keep each other posted on ordering success/failure in a few days after this passes.

That would be great! I would gladly share shipping costs with you. I went to the Tobacco Patch in Kirkland the other day, it was lunchtime on Friday, not a time to travel to Yesler. Great idea about trying to get them to order a couple other brands!

              Keep me posted please.

Well, I just added my small voice to the growing roar in Washington. Feels great to be the least represented demographic in the U.S.: A legal, taxpaying, clean-slate citizen.
Too bad I can't be a REAL lobbyist so congressmen might actually listen. Well, here's hoping!

I feel like such a jaded barstard for saying this, but I don't think it'll do any good, I wrote my Congressmen, Lindsey Graham, about two months ago when all this talk started. He is one of the guys on the Committee for the Judiciary on this bill. i recieved a standardized email thankikg me for my interest, and was promised a personal response. Still waiting on that response!

Just added my 2 cents to Senator David Vitter from LA. Hope this does not fall upon deaf ears. This is just another intrusion into the private lives of the citizens of this country that is not necessary. Everybody please send a comment/letter/email to the representatives of your states and hope somebody listens. It will not be said that I didn't try... Good day and good luck to you all!!!

It goes into effect Sunday but will vendors still ship to us? I am 90 miles north of Seattle and I can't even get General brands here. I haven't received any notice from the online vendor I use and I am a regular customer there. Anyway.......

Well "legally" it's not about whether they will ship to us, it's about receiving the shipment, which will be a class C felony. So if you don't mind risking it, there are probably vendors still out there that will ship no matter what.

I was going to get an order out quick, but I am not even clear on the timeframe. Anotherwords, the law goes into effect Sunday, does that mean anything "received" after Sunday is illegal or does that mean anything that was ordered before is OK no matter when it arrives, just don't know. Sux big time that's for sure.

I'm not sure HOW they can even enforce this!! the federal postage inspectors check for things that are against federal law like cocaine or weed. But it's not their role to enforce a state's law.
