So....to review. Ordered from getsnus, Northerner, toque, and Nicotine Rush all early in the morning on July 1
July 3 - Nicotine Rush arrived
July 6 - Toque arrived
July 7 - Getsnus arrived
Just finding it funny that Toque can ship across the ocean almost a quarter of the earth away, and you still get it faster than a shipment from getsnus! It's always taken 2 days for my stuff from getsnus whether they use UPS or USPS, but I am in the northeast and the major UPS shipment center is maybe 100 miles from me, so that's probably why. Think it took about a week from Toque the last time I ordered from them.
My last order from toque took at least 11 days. Just something I have come to expect. Nicotine Rush can get it to me in two days. But charge for shipping. So I just use them, really, for accessories (bullets and such). But threw in a few tins of Toque to tide my appetite for new until the Toque got here. Honestly, it was a close to a week sooner than I really expected.
Not that I am complaining. Finally tried Coke.....OMG, I am in love.... But that is for another thread.
I got home from work today, and checked my email, and Getsnus shipped today, UPS! See I hope this is not a problem, because I work M-F 8-5, and am not home during what I'd think would be when UPS comes. I don't mind them having UPS as a shipping option, but if I come home tomorrow and there is a note on my door, then I will have to contact Getsnus and tell them not to use UPS, but I'll see how it is, my wife's son might be here, and hopefully awake if the bell rings.
The only order they shipped to me via UPS was left at my door. I know a lot of it depends on the driver's discretion, but it seems like their decision is based on value of the package. Also, if a driver has had trouble with packages being stolen, they'll be less likely to leave something. The sender can also specify that a signature is needed.
It seems to be a crap shoot though. I once had a two thousand dollar Taylor guitar left in my driveway in a big giant box with the Taylor logo emblazoned on the sides of it. It sat there for about two hours and somehow, nobody swiped it. Another time, I had to sign for a couple piercing needles and barbells that was only worth about 20 bucks.
It's stuff like that which has caused me to prefer other shipping methods over UPS.
I've never been a fan of UPS. They left an almost $3,000.00 package on the stoop at a friend's appartment complex! In a horrible area! But then had to have a signature for a stupid flat letter envelope the next day!
We've gotten like 2 or 3 from UPS and not sure about signing but he's at least predictable. Always shows up at like 4:45 - 5:15 pm. Right AFTER I leave for work. Badfish is always home to receive so no biggie!
They also take packages about 30 or 40 miles east of our town to a distribution center just to bring it back westward.

My experiences with UPS have been identical to that of Horatio. I've had thousands of dollars of computer parts left on my porch yet I've had to sign for a 7 dollar box of computer disks! Go figure?
If you have any problems with my posts or signature
Whether a signature is required is a decision of the shipper, not the driver. shipper sends a $3,000 part made with diamonds but doesn't request signature delivery, the driver can just leave the package and usually will. Shipper sends a $3 part but requires signature, then the driver can't leave it.

Yes. If the shipper requires a signature, then they have to. If it's not required, it's up to the driver whether he's going to leave it or not.
I did notice on the Getsnus forum(which I can't seem to be able to post on for some reason) that after a certain weight, the order goes to UPS, but if you call them, they can send it USPS. I only ordered 7 cans and a pismaster, but I guess it was over a lb. Now UPS would be fine, if I was home, but I work a regular day job. I just hope if it shows today or tomorrow, someone is there to get it, or they leave it on the porch. Next order I make, I will call for sure, if it's more than 6 cans. But my last order was the White sampler, what was that? 6 cans? And the freebie.
I live in WI and most of mine from getsnus takes 4 days via USPS and 6 days via UPS. Buysnus and Northener take 6 days. Explain that to me. However I want SM to see that there is business here in the U.S. as well to try to encourage them to stay and expand their inventory.
Some of the members, particularly those from high-tax states, need some assistance from their Snuson bretheren. The idea has been proposed that we could...
I live in a high-tax state and would be willing to contribute towards a bulk order

I live in a low-tax state and would be willing to have a bulk order shipped to me
So, everytime I have ordered from GetSnus, my orders have come USPS, until this most recent one, even though the quantity was the same as previous orders....
