Where is Cheapest to Order From for UK?

    Hey Guys,

Just a quick one i got my first order of snus ever through from Northener a couple of days ago and im very impressed I got the Top 10 box and used a few of them, so far im liking the General and Skruf Stark very much but i have only sampled about half of them. I am finding it hard though to see a lot of difference in the snus between them but i am sure as i get more used to it i will notice the more subtle differences of the brands.

Anyways to the question, i found that i was taxed quite heavily and wondered if there is any way of getting it cheaper? I also just noticed that on the Northener website i can order to the UK and not have to pay euro tax, would this work out cheaper or would there be some other tax that would apply? Or are there any other suppliers that have a much less base cost to make me switch to? I would not swap for a few pence as i am happy with the Northener service it's just those bloody extreme taxes

Id be interested in also knowing if any brits have ordered from the american northener website? I think i will try it at least once and see what happens, ill prolly stick a couple of tins of dip in the order just so i can sample them too Although maybe i should not risk that just in case i get the taste for it hehe

    Cheers Lee.

If you order from the US Northerner warehouse you shouldn't have to pay any taxes on your snus. Hope that answers your question.

Yeah that does thnx I just noticed that i missed out saying the US warehouse in my question, im more worried though if there is any chance of the order being stopped at customs and me having to pay other types of tax. I suppose i would pay the tobacco tax anyway just not the euro tax. I think i will just give it a go on my next order and see what happens.

      Cheers

Customs duty to the UK is charged from all items from the USA, on top of the VAT (if value is over £18.).

There is no customs duty or VAT from the EU and SNUS is free from excise duty.

Euro tax cost me more than vat though if i am reading this correct. My last order from sweden

          Sub-Total: 23.15$
          Tobacco Tax: 10.34$
          EU Tax: 10.52$
          Total: 52.6$

Between the EU Tax and the Tobacco Tax it was 100% Tax, you think that Customs Duty and Vat would be more or less than the 100% Tax from europe?

On top of the checkout price, you would pay 17.5% on any order over £18, the duty they seem to make up as they go along. I would allow a 30% total tax hit from the USA so account for that if you try an order or keep the goods under £18. Do report back

Ok. my take on this is that you cannot avoid the taxes. However it still works out nearly a quid cheaper per can than cigarettes so its a good deal in my books.

The section on Northerner that you are referring to is probably related to another website that used to be run by a 3rd party on Northerner's behalf called Snusen.com. I think they shipped from Norway and that is how it avoided EU taxes.

There has been a lot of talk here on the forum about people experiencing problems with orders from that site (Snusen NOT Northerner). However, Frank (who owns Northerner) has posted here on the forum that he will be looking into the delivery problems and try and get them sorted. Actually I just tried to go to Snusen.com and it redirects to Northerner so I assumed he took it offline until the problems get fixed.

The duty on tobacco is based on the weight of the tobacco.

Just got my first order from BuySnus.com, took 4 days from dispatch to UK and no taxes.

                Hope that helps.

On further consideration, that could have been a noob mistake on my part, i think BuySnus prolly add tax to the price and not at the checkout like Northerner.

The price changes up dramatically when you check the inside EU button.

                  Sorry. 8)
