There is a bill now under consideration in Utah that would criminalize ordering any tobacco online. Penalties for ordering tobacco online or through the mail could include up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine. This is NOT a joke.

As bad as it looks, I did the below article last year on H.R. 4081. It passed the House of Representatives overwhelmingly and was poised to do the same in the Senate but the session ended before they could vote on it.

The 2009 Depression is slowing it's re-introduction, but The PACT Act, which is what H.R. 4081 was named, will be back. It's far worse than the Utah bill, which is unconstitutional.

The PACT act doesn't stop you from ordering mail-order tobacco: it makes it illegal for common carriers deliver it. FexEX, UPS, DHL, and the Postal Service had already agreed. Even if it gets through the processing center, do you think your UPS driver is going to risk a fine and prison for delivering an illegal package...........

However, considering the Federal Government said everything was fine while we were in a recession; then said we were in a recession while we are, in fact, in a Depression.
