Snus in NYC.

Hi everybody. I only just discovered snus. The proprietor at my local candy store handed me a can of Camel Snus - Frost as I was buying a pack of Parliament cigarettes. He said it might help me get off smoking. Earlier today I finished up my pack of cigs and when the craving hit for another one I popped a packet of snus in my mouth instead of going out and buying another pack of cigs. I have to say it does help with doing away with the cravings. Now instead of sticking with American brands of snus (the Camels are somewhat harsh), I'd like to try Swedish snus but would like to purchase it locally. I'm too impatient to wait for the Post Office or UPS to bring me snus. Does anyone out there know a place that has a wide selection to purchase snus from in the NYC - Manhattan area? I'm interested in trying out the General brand, regular and Extra Sterk snus. Thanks.

If you can't find a place locally (which you probably won't find any that have anything but General) you should take a look at Getsnus.com

Their prices are reasonable, they are based in PA, and they should ship pretty darned fast to NYC.

I got my order from them in only 4 mailing days, and I am in Houston, TX. You could probably get them in NYC in 2 days. That is, if you can't find a place locally. You would think somewhere in NYC has to have it, though.

PA to OR took 3 days and USPS tracking actually worked. :shock: I'll probably spread my scanty wealth between Snuscentral & Buysnus but when I want something for taste tests and want it quick they're a good way to go. Hopefully they'll keep adding new stuff.

I really hope they do. Right now they seem mostly invested in V2 products, and really don't carry much that I like.

Well I finally got my hands on some Swedish snus, General White Portion. Cigar Inn, which was closest to me had them. Unfortunately his selection was pretty sparse, just White Portion, White Portion Wintergreen, Loose, and Catch Eucalyptus. The flavor of the General White Portion is very natural compared to Camel Frost snus and also spicier with a lingering, very long lingering, citrus flavor. Camel tastes very fakey in a sort of chewing gum way to me and when it quits, it quits. Since I'm brand new to snus I'm embarassed to admit that I get hiccups during the first five minuets of so using snus. I had it with the Camels too but it went away after my first few pouches. I hope it isn't permanent with the Swedish stuff as I really like the taste of it. Perhaps it's too spicy for a weakling like me.

Don't worry about it, you're just starting out and sometimes it will affect you a bit oddly first thing, but you should adjust to it soon.

I'm going through my second pouch now after some Chinese food with practically no hiccups this time around. After rich food like that, the spice and citrus is really good. It almost reminds me of the days of smoking a really strong cigar after a big meal. Another plus, still no cravings for cigarettes.

Excellent, man. I haven't smoked for months (and then only because I wanted to, not NEEDED it) and I actually enjoy tobacco now, unlike with cigarettes.

You will probably save money if you order off the internet. How much is a can of General after tax in NYC anyways? I remember going there and seeing cigarettes go for nearly $8.00/pack!!!

Yeah, I want to try out those strong brands and then I'll shoot another order over to them for regular stuff. In the end I'll probably take on a routine similar to yours after I've figured out what my faves are.
