What's happened to the Northerner shipping?

Just tried to put in an order for some of the new snus available and found that the Swedish Post option for shipping isn't there, just UPS options. Has anyone else found this?

If so - could the Northerner representative let us all know why this option isn't showing up. Despite recent great customer service over the Gellivare story - I can't order using UPS because there is no guarantee that I will be in and it takes over an hour to drive to the nearest UPS depot for me. So I will probably be back with BuySnus.com if this doesn't get fixed.

PS - as I am in the UK - I don't anticipate any kind of problem with the standard post between EU countries for tobacco products.

Hi, I placed an order last night from Northerner and I was able to use the first priority mail option. The only other option listed was express mail for like $37. However, I'm in the USA....if that would make difference. It shouldn't tho.

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

      Dear squeezyjohn,

We got a new attractive deal with UPS for European customers, which gave our European customer lower shipping cost.

But you say that it is more complicated because you will have to pick it up at UPS?

I see, I wouldn't like that either, usually UPS deliver to your door but if you are not at home - yes you have to pick it up. Squeezyjohn, I will check this and come up with a solution as soon as possible. Maybe we will go back to Swedish Post - would this be better do you think? with UPS the order almost never get lost...

      Best regards,

      Frank

squeezyjohn, how many cans are you ordering?

I am about to put in an order with Northerner and quickly checked how much shipping+tobacco taxes etc would be.

My order is going to be for about six cans and I have the option of selecting First Priority Mail.

However, as an experiment I bumped up the size of the order to 12 cans and then I only get the option of UPS. Still the same flatrate as I was quoted for the smaller order though which is pretty cool.

Maybe the UPS option is to ensure larger orders reach their destination?

          Am I correct Frank??

Not sure how it is your neighborhood, but UPS will leave a package on my front porch.

Yes it was a larger order - but mine normally are - I tend to stockpile and am a fairly heavy user. UPS won't drop stuff - it's not that common a delivery system in the UK and they require a signature. My postman however will leave it in my shed out the back which is great.

Frank, thanks for the swift reply - both here and on customer service from Northerner. I see now what's happened - and most people I'm sure would be delighted to have UPS quality service at a lower cost, it just still won't work for me. I'm sure that no-one here is taking my issue as a complaint and indeed the service you're providing may be better for most of them.

I do think that it would be nice to give people in my situation the choice of choosing Swedish Post service (even if it ends up costing more than UPS) and if the service is less reliable then you should put a disclaimer up against the option on the site - that way everyone is happy and people in the odd case like me where they cannot be at an address for delivery can choose the option that is right for them. What do you think?

              Cheers

                  Dear Squeezy,

Ok on monday (tomorrow) I will talk with our technician to arrange so that you can choose Swedish Post as an extra option. I also sometimes have to collect some parcel at a central distribution point where you have to drive with your car for 20 minutes, it's not worth it!

Fedora, thank you, we will add Julesnus in the beginning of this coming week.

                  Pleasant good sleep to you!

                  Frank

                    Blimey!

Frank - you're an absolute star. Thank you so much for helping me out. I will be ordering as soon as it's in place.

Seriously - I really appreciate the service you have given. However I'm not sure you need to work so hard in the middle of Saturday night! Don't get stressed or sleep deprived on my behalf, please!

                    Thank you,

                    Squeezy

Well - I think I got to the bottom of it - not quite sure if my wires were crossed?

There is still no option of a Swedish Post method when I place the same order I wanted to - but after an email from Northerner support (presumably not Frank) which said that there was no option for Swedish Post over a certain weight - I checked how little I had to order before the method kicked in. I'm a little disappointed that it came in at 11 cans! But if it's a change in the Swedish Post regulations then presumably there's nothing I can do - or Northerner can do for that matter.

I will go ahead and order by going up to the limit and then placing an extra order where needs be. Might make me think about how many I buy at once which might be a blessing in disguise.

                      Thanks again Frank.

Same here in the State of Virginia. This was some change for us Virginians sometime several months ago. It used to be that someone had to be at the residence at the time of the delivery, and the package had to be signed for (something I really hated).
