This is the response I got:

Thank you for your message, and I apologize for the delayed response.

At this point there is nothing to worry about. In addition to the extreme weather in the UK, US Customs is being extra vigilant and has slowed shipments from the UK (and indeed the rest of the world) to 25% of normal. They are checking every parcel that enters the US, so that, coupled with holiday mail has slowed things down considerably. We are looking at an extra 2-3 weeks over normal shipping times for about 10% of shipments.

    Best regards,

    David

I guess I have no choice but to be OK with this, but it is still irritating. Ill stop being a whiny bitch now.

Condor, what did you order? I may be able to send you a few grams of different snuffs if you are out.
Most of my snuff came from snuffstore.co.uk. Second largest was nicotinerush, but not since the PACT shakeup. I've been completely happy with both suppliers.

Oh!! Good.. Then At this point there is nothing to worry about... Just that I'm past the extra 2-3 weeks over normal shipping times for about 10% of shipments. Guess that puts me into another percentage not mentioned yet...

I'm just wondering if Toquesnuff is having the same issues and if not how come... How are their orders getting through so fast...

I've had stuff [not tobacco products] held up in customs for almost 3 months. Look at the bright side. If Dave gives in and resends your order you just might get the original order one day. Thats the time you need to contact Dave and let him know you finally received both orders. He will probably then proceed to tell you to keep em both.

          Patience has its virtues.

However, Ya'll need to please wait it out and be patient. Everytime a vendor has to resend an order, because of any number of shipping problems, that $ comes out if his pocket.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

My recent Toque order (earlier this week) was 11 business days, the same as a non-tobacco order I had a few weeks earlier.

I didn't want to mention this.. For Jag's sake, sorry boss, but I got my order.. It was shipped on Dec 4th, I got it the 13th.. I believe Khalid got his order too he ordered the same time I did. I think your cases may just be isolated. Customs looked at yours at random or something.

Here's the .02 that no one asked me to share.

I know Dave on a professional level. He is one of the select few vendors/companies that we let advertise in the Ephemeris. The reason that we're so selective is because we don't want our readers thinking that we promote bad service or unprofessional business practices, so Mick and I only run ads from companies whose services or products we've used ourselves and deemed them to be good.

We work with Mr. Snuff because Dave has always been cordial, professional and outgoing in his service. If there's a problem, he will make it right. If this wasn't the case, then there would be no Mr. Snuff ad in the Ephemeris.

Before I entered the publishing game, I had no idea the number of things that could go wrong with international mail. We still have a couple of magazines sitting in Canadian customs that were sent out November 13th. That's right, a month and three days. Conversely, we had a couple of Canadian orders get delivered within five days.

As much as it pained me to do so, I had to tell those people that have been waiting a month for their magazine that they needed to stay cool and hope that customs got off their asses soon and delivered their book. I theoretically could have sent out another book, but what's the point? By the time the second book got there, the customer would have already received the first book. Then I would get an email asking me whether or not they should send the extra book back, and I would have told them to keep it.

You can't run a business like that. Well, you could, but you wouldn't have a business for much longer. When you're buying something from overseas, you and the seller are at the mercy of hundreds of other factors in the pipeline. Not to mention that November 3rd-January 7th is the busiest time of the year for the postal systems.

What Mr. Snuff posted about the UK customs is true. It's also true that most Toque packages are getting here quicker than Mr. Snuff shipments. That's not Dave's fault no more than it is Roderick's for being lucky. As I illustrated before, five of our books hit Canadian customs the same day. Two of them were delivered within a few days, one of them was held for two weeks, and the last two are still sitting there. I don't know why.

I'm basically trying to say that I understand the frustration on both ends. It sucks to be a customer waiting on something, and it's only natural to blame the shipper. But I also now appreciate the frustration of being the shipper that has to tell his customers to chill out and wait until it gets there. Both scenarios are lousy.

Well!!! That just tickles my balls and makes me feel all warm and fuzzy... But glad you got your order Eric

I think if I at least had my Toque Spanish Gem i could be more patient and now it's too late to even order and get an order from Toquesnuff before the Holiday.... shoulda listened to my gut and placed an order a week ago..

There is a new post on Snuffhouse.com authored by Roderick of Toque entitled US Delays--Homeland Security! If interested it does shed some light on possible reasons for some delays in transpoort.

Some American Snuffs can be obtained from local instate grocery and tobacco stores. Other snuffs like Swedish, English, German, Indian, South African and many other producers are more readily available from a source such as
                        http://www.toquesnuff.com/
                        http://www.snuffstore.co.uk/

Nicotene rush is in Fla but I'm not sure he can trade outside Fla. in the usa, he can send stuff overseas I am told.
Compare snuff available OTC in usa like this. You can buy camel, marlboro SNUS in USA and for some it works, but it definently not real Snus.
Or campare a volkswan beetle (old style) to a Cadillac. they just ain't the same. So we try to get it from where we can.
PACT Act won't allow shippers suppliers to sell tobacco and ship it via. USPS to cross state lines and many other issues involved in The PACT Act. Hell I don't understand PACT at all, I just buy from those that can sell it to me and get it here when they can.
Even Northerner has issues in some US states but they are working on it.

I think it was due to PACT, but all foreign tobacco products now require registration with the FDA before resuming stateside distribution. I'd imagine most snuffs aren't registered yet.

I forgot the exact thread or post, but someone said the royal mail from UK has an agreement or something with the US that overrides pact for now where you can still order snuff and the usps still has to deliver it.

I read that to but us shippers don't use Royal Mail, unless they are shipping to (I suppose Europe).
My last post was trying to answer the question of how we had to get other than american snuff into the US.
