Many times I have traded with newbies. Some that have never even posted on the board. But my one condition has always been: If you are an unknown/newbie around SnusOn, you must send me your item first, and upon arrival I will send mine first-class. I would hope I've built up enough reputation around here to be trusted....

      Seems fair enough.

I have traded with 3 users all with reputation so far, just to avoid the hassle.

Sounds fair enough of a condition to me too and seems like a good workaround... Don't know why I didn't think of that one. I think the exchange is based on trust and good faith between the 2 parties. Don't get me wrong I have traded with newbies but they have had some post count on this forum. I haven't had one bad trade or transaction and I would hope I've built up enough reputation with my trades around here to be trusted.... I just thought it odd to make your 1st post for exchange... Then there is this whole Chris Hansen with MSNBC jumping out paranoia i now have....

Owens I would be happy to trust ya... Have any Offroad Coffee/ Vanilla?

Well, the top half of jagmanss post is obviously about me. No worries. I completely understand your concern about buying from me since I only have one post and my profile isn't filled out.

Here's a little background...I'm a 2 pack a day smoker. I've bought 10 packs of snus a few times hoping that I would prefer the snus over cigs. It just hasn't worked out that way. So, that's why I'm selling my snus. I like snus but I really want to quit smoking so I'm going to give up all tobacco. I lurk from time to time but I don't post because I'm not going to keep snusing. This is a great board and I fully believe in the harm reduction approach but snus isn't for me. Which is why I'm selling my Ettan and General.

This board seems like a great group of people. I can assure you guys that I'm no crook. Just trying to get rid of my snus.

And, I have absolutely no problem shipping my snus to established members up front before receiving payment. That's not a problem at all.

          Happy Turkey Day guys,

          Matt

If I was a little concerned about dealing with a newbie, I would ask them to send their items first, and that you would pay(or send off your part) when they arrived. There is no reason they would not agree to that, unless they planned on not following through.

Matt, Thanks for posting and clearing that up.. I meant nothing towards you personally... Just using it as an example on how others would feel and would do.

I think between my post, Owens workaround and your post, It just may help you and others on the exchange more now..

Sorry to hear that snus hasn't worked out for you... Like you i was a 2 pack a day smoker for 38 yrs and have been snusing now for almost 5 months and still hold onto 3 -4 smokes a day, But I have been using the no pressure method along with snusing and that is, If I want a smoke I will have one and not deny myself, snus is taking over more and more and some days I don't even want more than 1 smoke or i will light up and put it out and think I would rather have a snus instead and starting to prefer the snus over smoking... snus is slowly replacing the smokes for me, But it takes longer for some more than others..

I wish you the best of luck on your quest to becoming tobacco free...

                No problem, jagmanss.

I originally was introduced to snus through the article on schizophrenia.com about harm reduction with snus compared to smoking. I am schizoaffective (combo of bipolar and schizophrenia) so I'm nervous about going completely nic-free.

Here's the link to the article:

                http://www.schizophrenia.com/smokereport.htm

I caught a thread about the no pressure approach to snus and smoking. I think if I put less pressure on myself in regards to quitting cigs I could be successful with snus.

I've tried to quit cigs so many times but I keep getting sucked back into smoking. Snus would be the logical approach, especially given my psych condition.

So, after giving it some thought and based on the success stories of former smokers here, I'm going to give snus an honest shot with no pressure. I really like snus but I've been trying too hard, I think.

I'm going to take my post down but will look forward to trading in the future.

                Have a good holiday guys,

                Matt

You know to be honest, I have done a few trades on here and have never had a problem. I think if you use Owen's rule for newcomers you will be fine. Trading has allowed me to try a snus before buying a bunch of it.

                    Hey mate,

                    I'm with you..

I've been in a struggle with quitting smoking for years.... (the last 4 at least were a complete hell)

I can understand that with your condition is much harder to quit.... but snus will definitely help you lots!!

Don't sell it.... I mean try different brands ... probably Ettan and General isn't for you ... I like them both (the loose versions)

But definitely like Oden's, Offroad and Skruf a lot more :^)

                      Matt,
Greetings from one noob to another. Speaking as said noob, I would think the onus to prove oneself in a trade would be on the new fellow. If it was a large trade or sale perhaps it could be completed half at a time even though that would increase shipping.

As a smoker for over 40 years I have found snus to be liberating. For me, the stronger snus works best though I do mix in some regular strength snus once in a while for variety. I was a rabid pipe smoker for 30 of those years and could not envision never smoking my pipe. Now, since March 2010, I can. Still occasionally light up a pipe and also keep a pack of Camel Wides in the car to share with my son. On a heavy travel day I will smoke 3-4 Camels but rarely touch my pipe. These are not baby steps but, for me, a huge leap. Each hour that I do not light up is a victory and an hour that I will never smoke. Surprisingly, these hours add up and are enjoyable with some good snus. Lastly, I do not beat myself up for still smoking a little as I can see what little I do now compared to the past. Smoke-free in the future? Perhaps but any self-pressure placed by me would be very counterproductive so I am just enjoying the ride and see where it goes. Hope you can begin to enjoy yours.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I'm relaxing with a fresh Ettan Original portion right now. Everytime I pop in a snus I realize how much better snus is than smoking. So, I'm not going to put any pressure on myself to quit smoking. I'm going to enjoy my snus and if I want to smoke then I'll smoke. But, I'm not going to continue driving myself bat shit crazy over it. haha

I'm confident that snus will win out in the end anyway.

Thats the best way to go about it. When I quit, I just plain did not worry about it much. If I wanted to smoke, I'd smoke. If I wanted to snus, I'd snus. But after awhile, I found myself reaching for my tin more often than I'd reach for my pack, and one day I just never reached for the smokes - and I never reached for them again. It just kind of naturally happened. Get yourself some Thunder Frosted - that stuff will fill you so fullof Vitamin N that you won't want to smoke, and you'll get all nautious if you do.
