Modified Prismaster

I'm used to hand baking, I find it difficult to push it down with the slider on the side. I'd like to try an ice tool, but they are pricey, and remind me a bit of the syringe my dentist uses.

Wow I was baking giant loose prillas by hand. The prismaster gives me a great, tight pris that lasts so much longer before ever falling apart. I figure my cans of loose are gonna last one hell of a lot longer now. I was in the habit of grabbing such a huge pinch from using copenhagen. Now I can actually close my mouth.
I tried turning it around, but that was too small for me, and the other end of the outer barrel is not contoured the same shape as the plunger, which wouldn't be so annoying if the prismaster I got wasn't jagged a little on that end. Plastic slide button is kinda hard to use. For $2 I'm glad I bought another one after my dog destroyed my first one.

My prismaster is doing nothing more than collecting dust these days; I think I just prefer handbaking. Sadly, that means I'll probably never bring myself to buy an icetool, even though I'm sure it's cool and much more convenient. To be honest, I really only use los maybe twice a week now, if that...

I intend to try this also, although I have an icetool which works great for me.
I like to try different approaches to many things.

I finally tried reversing the plunger, and I like that size much better. I didn't cut the back off, but I like it better now. Thanks for the tip :^)

The icetool does seem a little tempting, but I can't justify the expense, especially since I can best customize the size and shape of the pris by hand baking it anyway. Maybe one of these days...

My philosophy as well, but I have been awfully tempted lately, at the current rate that the dollar is falling an icetool may be several hundred dollars by the end of the month.

I just got a prismaster with my last order yesterday, and took this advice and switched the inside piece around, which gives me very nicely sized pris. Thanks for the tip.

And yes, it's a very simple matter to switch the barrel orientation whenever you want, so you wouldn't really need two of them.

The prismaster already consists of two parts, that can easily be assembled either way. No need to buy 2 of them.

That sounds interesting. I'll have to check it out later when I dig up my Prismaster.

The prismaster as it came seemed to have more pris forming capacity than I really wanted to deal with and trying for only half a plungers worth was more fiddling than I wanted to deal with.
What I did was take the inner barrel out and reverse it so that at full plunger retraction it formed a pris that was about half size compared to the prismasters original configuration. Then I cut the outer barrel off at the line between "pris" and "master". This left me with shorter tool (please no bad puns here, thank you!) and at full retraction the inner barrel sticks out of the outer barrel to get a plunger effect and forms a more managable size pris.

Anybody else tried this?
