i just wanted to say thank you to everyone that chimed in on this thread. it is helping immensely reading about other people in the same situation.

I'm making the switch to snus through a cigs>vapes>cigs route here in Japan which is bloody smokers' heaven.

I never posted in this thread? That's not like me!

I started mixing snus with my Marlboro Reds in mid August 12' and went completely smokeless during the first week of November. By the end of that time, the cigs tasted pretty bad compared to the snus! My point being, give it time. It takes a while for our taste buds to "learn" the taste of snus, and to be comfortable with snus in the lip.
