    Super Noob With Questions

I have tried a few snus, with mixed results. My first snus was a Camel Mellow, and it made me puke (too sweet)! My newest forays into snus include General Mini Mint and Discreet Peach. I like these...but my question is this: when I first put a portion in place, once it becomes moist and you start getting the flavor, the nic in the juice that I am swallowing is causing a "lump" feeling in my throat and burning slightly. How often do I need to start using snus before I get used to this...and it "goes away"?

My other samples (that I haven't tried yet) are: Catch Dry Violet/Licorice, Discreet Strawberry, Discreet Cool Mint, Mocca Pomegranate, Oomph Wine and Dine, and General White Minis.

Also...this is my first post as a new member of this forum, and I hope to learn a lot about snus from everyone here.

No worries, it will fade away with use (maybe a week?). Most people recommend to have a drink handy in the beginning to wash it down and soothe the throat.

    And welcome to the board!

      Welcome Deeanne,

The burn/lump combo is normal. I still get a burn if I have a snus in for awhile and it's really drippy. I've only been snussing for a month or two, but it's gotten markedly better. Drinking something helps if it's too uncomfortable. There are a lot of good drink/snus combos that you can discover, too. I think as you gain experience, you'll drip less and less too.

When I 1st started, I literally kept a spit cup handy, and used it. Come to realize, I was placing the portion too far back. Plus over time, my body got used to snus. Now, I don't even need a drink handy.

I wasn't sure where to place mine, so I placed it up top and way back behind my canine. I might not have it high enough either, because even a mimi portion sometimes hangs down below my teeth.

My hardest hurdle is that first "gush" of juice once the snus get wet...when it starts to burn the throat, I get my "lump", and when the juice first hits my stomach...and I start getting a little nauseated. This goes away quickly enough, but it has been enough at times to make me want to take the portion out.

The burning lasted a few weeks for me before I got used to it. Eventually it goes away, and I rarely get it, maybe once a week or so.

            Welcome to the forum! SnusOn!

Post a review of the Wine and Dine, I've been curious about it.

Tom has a great point on the placement. The further back in the cheek, the more drip. Try to move it in front of the canine if you can.

White portions tend to drip less so it looks like you're on the right track there. I mainly use los and original portions and kinda like the drip/juice, but I will still get a bit of the throat burn sensation with some of the extra moist sterks.

Yeah, move it up front, not dead center(though it can be done), but in the area of the front teeth. It won't drip much at all there.

Welcome deeanne. The first month or so, I kept a bottle of water with me anytime I used snus. You'll get used to it and will be fine. Like others have said, the closer to the front, the less drip.

                    Welcome to Snuson deeanne59

As others have already stated, that will go away real quick.

I do want to encourage you, next time you order, to try more traditional unflavored snus. Most folks, when they are brand new, tend to stick with flavored snus. I promise, you might be suprised at how much you like the non flavored snus. The General white mini is closest, but I am not a huge fan of the General, flavor too sharp for my liking.

Just keep trying new stuff, and keep an open mind. Your tastes, when new,, will range all over the map. So what you love today may not be what you are liking a month from now. Tat is very normal

Hi. Do try the General white mini. It will be a nice contrast to the rest of your order.
