Tomorrow will make two months since I got my first order of Swedish snus. The smoking started tailing off right away. It's been days, weeks, since I had a smoke, I honestly don't remember if I had one or two since the 22nd (the equinox). Maybe. It's been weeks and weeks since I had more than three or four, and lots of days of none, one, one and a half, maybe two.

I'm not ready to say I'm an ex-smoker but I seem to be a lapsed one. I do have quite the snus habit but I'm okay with that. And I've stopped buying nicotine gum.

I have dabbled in snuff but decided it's not my bag.

My advice, for what it's worth: concentrate on snus (and snuff if you like), and find something else to do with your hands. Anything, piano, knitting; find something in your past you always wanted to do.

Thanks again sandil...I have never tried anything but white mini portions, but I will give this a go. I noticed on GetSnus that the Nic and Johnny is "not recommended for beginners"....guess I will have to become a "pro" pretty quick .

MojoQuestor: I will try, but as I said...the "hand to mouth" and throat hit factors are very strong to me as well as nic. It might be harder for me to break them as it will be for anything else.

I have a General White portion in the fridge right now...I know that it is only 8mg., but it is stronger than what I have been using up to now, and it is a regular portion instead of a mini- I wonder how that would work right now?

What I am afraid of is all of the posts about starting with 3 cans, then 10 cans, then 30 cans, then 50 cans, etc. My budget won't handle that kind of load, especially trying to do that with vaping supplies, snus, AND snuff! I am trying to see if I can budget for 2 methods to solve my nic needs...either vaping and snus, snus and snuff, vaping and snuff, etc. Either that, or I will stock up on snus and snuff, and just use my PV to vape 0 mg. nic for that "hand to mouth" and seeing vapor thing.

SheilaLynn, are you now mostly a snus and snuff gal, or do you also steadily vape too?

        P.S.- I was also a 2 pack a day smoker for over 32 years.
I still use the e-cig sometimes, but nothing like I was using it at first, which was constantly. I do plan on ditching them soon anyways and just sticking with the snus and snuff...have just 3 510 batteries left and 2 more 401's and they're all burned up.

I saw someone say that Absinthe snuff wasn't mentholated...I disagree with that...it feels WAY mentholated to me. maybe it is the liquorish that makes it seem that way to me? Just know if it goes too far back, it's the same reaction as a heavily mentholated snuff. To me it seems mentholated.

I understand...my PV is glued to my mouth right now...chain vaping 24mg. alternated with 36mg! I have a couple of bottles of liquid put back, and some supplies stocked up...but nothing "ready to die" any minute. If I can get totally transitioned to snus and snuff, I can always sell the stuff and 1) recoup some of my losses, and 2) have some extra money for snus and snuff!

I should be getting my first snuff order tomorrow or Tuesday...probably won't try it until I am off Friday. I have mixed feelings....I am excited to try it, and I am afraid of trying it- all at the same time (sounds stupid, huh?). But...I have also been making my "wish list" for the next order- just in case the snuff gets me hooked  .

Stupid or not, I'm kind of that way with snuff... ambivalent. I've decided, for now, just to listen to myself and concentrate on the snus.

If you haven't tried that General white yet, I encourage you to do so. The only way to really know about it is to try. It won't help you just sitting in the fridge

Hey MojoQuestor! I have the General White portion in as we speak! I like the taste, for what I call an "unflavored" snus. So far all of my snus taste good...just not quite enough nic hit to keep the cravings at bay. This White portion is the highest I have at 8mg.

If your finding General White "OK", then you must try LD White. Just a way better version of similar, better taste IMHO.

Kind of a new favorite of mine I only recently found as was scrounging for a replacement for Retro White.

You would really like LD White as a good introduction for how good a non flavored snus can be.

Also. Another recommendation then would be 02. Similar to the General White in a lot of ways, but a strong snus. Interesting to pair it up with The other Strong recommendation I made

So far then, Sage's 3 suggestions for snus.

                LD White
                02

                  I missed this earlier.

                  NO...

Snus is what I use to maintain my nicotine levels. Snus is as automatic as breathing is for me now. As I have posted elsewhere, what I love most about snus is I never think about nicotine anymore. Not like when I was smoking and craved a cigarette every 30 minutes. With snus, it is just "taken care of". Like my body knows now when to have one in, I don't ever think much about it, other than to enjoy the flavors sometimes.

So Snus is just basic part of who I am.

I added snuff about 6 months ago. I was curious, hurt my head bad the first time, then read , asked questions, figured out how to do it right.

And fell madly, passionately in love with it. From the first day.

Snuff is a passion now. I love everything about it, how it tastes, how it looks. the process of using it. The looks I get when I do it in public. I love everything about the ritual. And am obsessed with still trying new snuffs. I have largely cleaned out Toque. And am now moving on to F&T. And Soon, will clean out F&T and get more of my latest love, Bernard.

Snuff is clearly a love affair. And I am still as joyful and irresponsible with it today as I was after that first day 6 months ago.

So shorter way of saying it. I am married to snus. A bit bored sometimes, but will NEVER leave her. I am having a mad, passionate love affair with snuff. Not sure I can maintain this current frentic pace, I will soon have a 2 year supply, more than I can even use in regular rotation in 2 months. But not sure I can stop.

That's sort of what I want to do...snus for nic maintenance, and snuff for flavors and experimenting (mixing flavors)...and I understand Toque is great for this. As I mentioned earlier...I wrote down all of the Toque Cocktail recipes..plus thought of a few possibilities myself .

I have posted over and over here that I think Toque is perfect for newbies, It is just mostly SO easy to take, I strongly try and nudge folks that direction. Just be prepared to be a bit overwhelmed by it, I waited for over 2 years to try snuff. Learned all I did about snus first.

But from everything else you have already posted, I suspect this is just your way. All of it now.

No, not really...I just feel that I am working against a deadline (PACT Act)...and the possible e-cig ban. We are waiting any day for a Federal judge to hand down his verdict in an e-cig case...which will pretty much seal the fate of e-cigs, one way or another.

I know that I NEED nicotine, so I am trying to learn as fast as I can, and trying to sort of "stockpile" as fast as time and money will allow....snus, snuff, and what little vaping supplies that I have already. I guess my main problem is that I am a "worry-wort". With everything else, I am a pretty patient person.

My local area carries bupkis in the way of premier snuffs and swedish Snus....if the bad things happen, my only choices without "hoarding" ill be Camel Snus or cigarettes....not good choices.

                          Snuff left in?

Deanne....Sorry to hijak you thread...but since we are both "Super Newbs" I figured you wouldn't mind..LOL...The one question I have about snuff is whether you leave it in after you use it? I have not seen anything yet on this. I thought I saw a post somewhere mentioning you only leave it in the nostrels for a brief time and then blow it out! Figure sagedil could give me the heads up...as my snuff should hit the door tommorrow or Tuesday! Thanks in advance! The Wiz!

Just leave the snuff in until it's ready to come out. Sometimes it's a couple of minutes, sometimes it's never, or at least until you get in a hot shower. If your nose is running, or feels stopped up you can blow, but there isn't any rule on it.

Hi Deeanne I find the original portions hit a little harder than the whites. Some ppl seem to prefer the original portions at first, then move to the whites later on. I'm still trying both, and loose too...

Some stronger portions (more nic) that I really like are Nick & Johnny, General Onyx, Grov Svart (black), Claq Qui, General Ekstra Sterk, and Skruf Stark. There are also General Sterks that aren't quite as "sterk" as the Ekstra Sterk.

And of course, you'll want to try Thunder. I don't like these as well but that's just my opinion.
