    Not Refrigerating White Portions

From what I gather, when it comes to white portions, there is not as great a need to refrigerate as there is with loose and regular portions. My question is, does it matter at all? If I have several unopened cans of white portions, will it affect the quality of the snus if I decide not to refrigerate them?

Thanks in advance! You guys are great. I haven't posted much on these boards, but I've learned a whole lot from reading them.

It's recommended, but not 100% necessary. Regular portions would probably go in the fridge, and los most definitely. Right now, I have everything, including open tins, in the cooler due to it being hot as hell in SoCal lately.

Mine go in the freezer when new. But once opened, they never get cold again.

From February till April of this year I had a can of white minportions open at room temperature, stored in a plastic-bag in my rucksack all the time as a backup in case I forget to take enough other snus with me, alongside a pack of chewing tobacco bits which I regularly use for the same purpose. You can easily imagine that it wasn't a favorite brand of mine (in fact it had a perfect sort of bubblegum or candy taste, quite pleasing even, but nothing that I can enjoy more often than once a week), but the taste was the same even after three months at room temperature.

        It was Mocca Pomegranate Mini.

Snus in general isn't that delicate. It has been invented long before refrigerators existed. The worst that can happen is that a can may go bad (means: a little too dry) after a day in the direct sun, but otherwise there's absolutely no reason to worry at all, if you consume an open can within 3 or 4 weeks.

Besides of that, the whole refrigeration-topic is a bit exaggerated (or a marketing gag by some snus-producers, like another member who had worked in the snus industry once said) but the fridge indeed is the ideal place to store snus over a longer period of time.

        Cheers!

I keep ALL of mine cold at all times (unless I'm going somewhere). I just prefer cool snus.

When travelling I have kept whites out of the fridge for up to 3 weeks. They seem to start to smell a bit uh different but still do their salty nicotine thing as usual.

Thanks everyone. And chainsnuser, thanks for pointing out the exaggeration of refrigeration. < nice little rhyme there : ) I hadn't thought about the fact that snus has been around a lot longer than refrigerators. Good point!
