So here's the deal... I am going on my annual white water rafting trip in Aug. And I would like to take snus along for the ride. As a former smoker I can tell you that cigs DO NOT hold up on the 4 hr trip. I am trying to come up with ideas to either waterproof a snus can for the trip or to manufacture a waterproof can (I am a machinist so any ideas will be considered whether it be an improvement on a current design or a new design) ANY help is appreciated!!

Get an Otterbox 1000 or small pelican case. The Otterboxes are a bit better IMO

The small size "1000" is about $12.00 USD, but you can find them cheaper possibly at online retailers

I use these little badboys for meds on my fishing trips. But they float and are watertight, you could probably fit 30-50 portions in one.

Thanks for the suggestions. Right now "ponysoprano" otter box seems to be a great solution. The otter box 1000 (that the link takes you to) has an internal volume of 8.7 cubic inches(ci) which is nearly double that of a General snus can's internal volume (4.7 ci) However the otter box 200 has an internal volume of 17.69 ci which I will admit is large, but it measures 5.757" x 3.140" x 0.979" inside which should fit two snus cans (2.75 dia x .875 tall) nicely. More to come... I may even attempt to fabricate a box of my own design.
Also if you are interested I used http://www.onlineconversion.com/ for all my volume calculations.

I'm inclined to recommend a Lucky Strike container -- don't they have an o-ring already? And they are so snug!

Nope, no O-ring, but it's got a tiny lip on the plastic insert that seals snugly with the metal top. I'm not too sure how watertight it is, though. I think the otterbox would probably be the best bet if you want to spend the money. Otherwise you could always put your tins in plastic bags if you wanted a really cheap solution.

Lol. I just happened to have a tin of Lucky Strike Whites next to me when I read that post. I didn't have too many portions of it left so I consolidated the portions with the near finished Retro Whites and tested out the water tightness of the LS tin. It'll float just fine, but when submerged it'll leak water into the tin. If kept submerged for a minute you'll definitely have some soaked portions. And that's if the lid is kept on tightly. Definitely a no-go.Originally posted by dland125@ ShaulWolf:
Thanks man. I was just getting on here to see if someone could confirm the lucky strike o-ring and there was your post. So thanks for being ahead of the game.

Cool thanks... again. I really think I have decided on the small otter box the 1000 series suggested by pony. It is a little bigger than I originally wanted but should work out plus I found it online for $5.80Originally posted by ShaulWolfLol.
