Does a bit of apple in your snus box really revive dying snus?

it's not necessarily a mold issue on the potato but the moisture absorbed by the snus, dip or whatever isn't strictly H2O unless it's distilled water. The other stuff promotes the mold growth so I don't think changing it out would offer much relief from that. On another note, every try to take a bite out of a raw potato? Yucky. I'd be afraid some of that starch would leech out or something...at least fruit tastes good. Maybe try a carrot if you have no fruit around, but by all means let us know how the potato works. I am curious.

You can add potato slice etc. but the snus's composition will not be same as new fresh moist snus is. Best way is to not let it dry or keep it in a fridge. That's just what I've noticed.

OK it hasn't been in my snus box for long, but the potato really seems to have softened the snus portion material to the point where they are far more comfortable in the lip. These snus were in my snus box in my pocket - the warmth will raise the humidity in the box. The snus in the fridge have had less of an impact, but I'll fill you in tomorrow. Definitely no taste of raw potato, but vodka doesn't taste of potato either.

I'll keep you all informed ~

My choice would be a light spritzing of vodka, which would
inhibit mold formation, with no discernible taste impact.

Nice idea, but I'm a tea totaller due to some medication that REALLY reacts with even trace amounts of alcohol.

Just a note - the potato has already dried out quite a bit, transferring some moisture to the portions. I will weigh the potato before I put it in the snus, then re-weigh after a day or so to see how much moisture was transferred. Quite pleased with the results so far but time will tell.

Maybe you could find an herbal tea with anti-fungal properties,
steep a small strong fusion, and mist with that.

                For instance:
"Cinnamon has extremely high anti-oxidant activity, and the oil
of cinnamon has strong anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties."

Or more easily put a used tea bag in with the snus, I think it may be too easy to over wet the snus as I found when I flicked some boiled water and the snus went mega salty

Wow, such a simpler solution! I'll have to keep that in mind.
I've got some Candy Cane Green Tea teabags from Trader
Joe's that might just work out fine. Steep it, squish most of
the moisture from the bag, and stick that in the can.

Ok so my partially dried out snus seems to have been revived, I'm going to remove the potato now as the portions are just nicely moist. Probably not as good as fresh, although I don't have a lot to compare it to, and I certainly can't taste any raw potato. I feel that I could repeat this if I find they have dried out again. Some of the snus has been open about 2 1/2 weeks. The potato has visibly dried out but the portions are now much more comfortable in the lip, they were starting to give me a dry mouth before and just didn't settle into the lip properly.

All in all a good effort I feel, saves me wasting the best part of 40 portions

Just put a small peice of moist sponge in the tin. Preferably real untreated sea sponge. Works great, and overnight. Just dont use any of the dish sponges that have been treated with God knows what...

I like that idea a lot. I don't usually have drying problems, but that's the route I'll take if I need to rehydrate snus.

Just opened my can of thunder mini which I had forgotten to remove the wedge of potato from - it has been there about 48 hours or so. The portions had got too moist so I've had to leave the lid off to let them dry a bit. Not soaking wet just are too much to quick for me (the flavour not the nic). Lesson to be learned check the snus every 12 hours or so if you are trying to rescue them this way.
