My first attempt to use Los.

If you were to pitch a ghetto tool/syringe in the trash once a week and make a new one at 25-30 cents a pop you could keep yourself in perfectly serviceable loose delivery devices for three years compared to what an Icetool costs. The one I made three months ago still works fine which makes the economic comparison even more ridiculous. I love exquisitely machined metal goodies as much as any techno-head out there but since a g-tool works just as well as an I-tool it's a pretty hard sell for those of us without the spare cash floating about to lay one in.

I tried the syringe and while it is definitely convenient, it is not quite as good as just packing it with your hands. When you make a pris with a syringe the ends of the pris seem to fall apart very easily no matter how hard I pack the tobacco in the syringe. It is faster for sure though and I can see why people buy ice tools. The other problem I am having with los is that I developed a sore on my upper lip after my 2nd day of using los snus. This disappeared after I switched back to portions. I am loving los but it still seems like a once a day or every other day type of thing. I can see the cans lasting longer because even after 2 days of using los, I still have about 1/3 of the can left. My guess is that I can get 3 to 5 days out of a can easily.

When I was in Sweden (2001) the gentlemen that attended all of the business meeting just used their fingers to form a small ball and placed in the upper lip. I've just used that method since that day and never had a problem getting it to stay put.

Footnote: I brought several cans of Copenhagen to Sweden with me and brought 40 cans of General Lös back to the states on my return trip and have never purchased another can of Cope.

I gotta learn this pinch method for Los. It seem like it would make my life a lot easier. Everytime I have tried it breaks up before it even gets into my mouth.

It's easy. Just knead the snus a bit with your fingers until it starts to get juicy. Then form the tobacco into a tight ball by rolling it in your hands. After that you smooth the ball into a rectangular shape to make a more comfortable shape and then pack in the sides with your fingers until the pris is nice and tight.

I used to get sore gums from some of the coarser grinds. I was baking the prillas really tight. I bake them looser now and stopped having any soreness issues. I also switch sides everytime.

I am trying some Gellivares now and this stuff rocks! All I can say is WOW! The flavor is perfect and this stuff packs easily. I used a syringe and got a nice pris out of it with no problem whatsoever. The ends are falling apart a bit but the grind of this snus is very fine and that is almost like a bonus. This stuff is easier to use and taste even better than General. I used almost 2 ml's according to my syringe and am getting a nice nic hit out of this. I will let you know if this tears up my lips in a day or two but I will also try a looser pris like Mr. Snuffleupagus suggests. Have you used this brand before Nash? If not, Ladysnus has a couple of cans in the buy and trade forum and she ships fast!

Yes I have it's delicious. I use a syringe now since I still can't find my ixetool and have no problems keeping a pride together it never falls apart.

I just want to be able to use different methods in different situations.

Gellivare's tits. That, along with Gotland lös, are the best values in snus. The quality is ultra premium, but the price is lower than the big guys, and you get 5g extra per tin. What's not to love? :^)

I've wanted to try gotlands Los forever. But everytime I order it they forget it or send me portions instead. But I finally got a can of gotlands yellow Los in my last order. Haven't tried it yet though.

Yeah I want to try a can before ordering a roll though because shipping is a bit much now. Granit los and Jakkobsons Classic are both on my need to try list but I am sure they will pop up here eventually. I would not hesitate to order a roll of Gellivares now!
