    In Sweden..

In Sweden are snus users brand/flavor loyal or are they like a majority of us and use a variety? I've been wondering about it for some time. I'm sure there may be a snus forum in swedish and they may talk about snus but I think snus is so widely available over there it would be odd. Kind of like us having a PizzaOn forum where we would list our favorite toppings and vendors it would be stupid.

You have to admit to us snus is a bit exotic. Due to it being not widespread as it is there. That's what makes it fun for us to try the different variaities and add to our collections. Apreciating every flavor and giving each one second and third tries because our tastes change.

In Sweden do they appreciate it as much as us? It being available at every 7-11 Circle K
whatever the swedish equivalent is there. Do they analyze every subtle flaovoring i.e juniper berry?

In a nutshell I'm wondering if any of you have friends or family members there that could shed some light? I know I have a couple distant distant relatives over there but I wouldn't know where to begin.

I would think over there it's like walking into a 7-11 for a pack of Marlboros. They don't think twice and seldom vary on there choice of product. Unless they see something new or shiny! Most smokers and dippers rarely stray far from there usual brand!

Probably not as much variety as we do. They probably have staples and just stick to the most of the time.

But who the hell knows? I could be totally wrong. lol

I think even American snusers get to a point where they pick 2-3 favorites after awhile. I know I've gotten to that point. This doesn't mean we stop trying new ones but we don't have 20 cans open ala c.nash all the time....

I spent 2 weeks in Stockholm and Växjö Sweden a few years ago, mostly SM General users at the time.

                Hi Butters

Most people stick to their brand, just like smokers do, the most common reason to stray from your brand would be to try a budget brand to save money.

I´m not aware of a swedish snus forum, then again I never looked for one either, there is a tobacco forum I know of, but mostly they just talk about what cheaper brands are ok.

Snus is available in any store/gas station everywhere, small outlets usually have a narrow selection, not the place to get your favorite snuses such as Thunder, in fact Thunder would be very hard to find anywhere.

As for being appreciated, I´m sure it is, but it´s been around for so long that nobody really thinks about it.

What has happend in recent years is an explosion of new brands, so the budget brands have gained popularity. In 2006 a smoking ban was implemented in restaurants/bars, that boosted snus use a lot.

                Glad to help

Use snus for more than 6 months and you will find that your impulse to vary your options has diminished significantly. I really miss the honey moon phase myself, it was really nice to always be clamping at the bit to get the new order into your mouth, but it does dissipate at some point.

I got to a point where I only owned Grov White. When I got into snuff last summer it renewed my interest in snus and I went on a tasting bender again. This time I've been able to control my pris size with los so I enjoy it more. I guess that makes for a good foray into snus again. I could easily be happy with Grov and N&J alone. Lately I can feel myself gravitating more towards OP's than Whites or just adding moisture to the white cans.

Thank you for the great responses.. That's what I was figuring. Because it's widely available and so normal folks would be brand loyal and look for bargain brands when it helps with budget.

Chossy, it's great to hear a voice from Sweden! I heard on YouTube that general is the top of the line snusers prefer and goteborgs rape (one of my favorites) is second in line. Is that what you have encountered?

In Goteborg, must of what I saw was General products for sale, the occasional Lucky, Monte&RJ was in every store, and one store had a TON of V2 stuff. But, for the most part it seemed like everyone was going for General.

One thing I liked about Sweden was that snus use was so casual. Everyone used it, it was on tables at every restaurant - people didn't leave it in their pockets. And they didn't duck down or look away to put a portion in (as I know some Americans do, due to social stigmas of sorts). It was very accepted and it was just like putting in a stick of gum.

I like that Chad. Where it's so normal there. I am a bit self concious when I put in a portion in public.

Just pop it in confidently. It looks no different than popping in an Altoids or a piece of gum. Taking one out discretely can be a bit more problematic.
