Crap. I bought a pack of Marlboro Rich end of last week and finally opened the damn thing and had me a portion around about on this past Saturday and still can't get the F...ing sweet taste out of my mouth. I would seriously sooner suck on a sour lifesaver or something when my sweet tooth is a knockin cause this shit is just yUcK!
Nice to know I have something to look forward to when I finally
open the pack I bought (for $3.50-ish!!) last week.
The big problem with American snus, as I sit here with a Camel in now, is they do everything they can to mask any tobacco flavor, and heap sweetness on whatever flavor they use. In my view, if they focused on the natural tobacco flavor, and maybe added just enough sweetness to enhance that, it might be good, for anyone.
Problem is I'm enjoying my Swedish Snus too much to sully my taste buds right now.
I figure the best time to try this is when the occasional SwS tastes less than adequate
(and it does happen -- just not lately). But now I'll be ready!!

Not only do they make it too sweet, they go out of their way to package it so it doesn't look like dip. The problem is I actually like having the round can. I think if somebody where ever to market snus in the US properly it would take off bigtime. First we need to secretly pay a few famous actors to "quit smoking with snus", and make that known. That would make it more socially acceptable in this fame worshiping country of sheeples. Second either copy some of the more popular Swedish flavors, or better yet just have some of the big companies in Sweden make it to their specs. If there was a General taste knock off product with a cool sounding Americanized name, then we might have something.
So far no one wants to come here and truly market to a country that might very well tax tobacco from existence within it's borders.
Wish I saw this thread earlier, but oh well. If someone wants to delete the thread I started, go ahead.
I tried it this morning. I liked the smell, and the taste right off the bat (chocolate/Jim Beam kind of thing going on). Unfortunately, like a couple people noted, the sweet kills it after a while. I found that as soon as I moved the portion around, it went to crap. But, knowing that if I just let it sit where I put it originally, I don't think I would hate it. I most likely wouldn't turn it down if someone offered it, but I'm not going to buy it. The portion material has a nice dryness to it, but a little rough.
I still say that for American, they are moving in the right direction. Personally, I think this beats Camel's garbage. Maybe they sweeten it because their actual tobacco is crap, and the over flavoring hides that fact?
I didn't notice any nicotine, but I snus Onyx and Grov Black all damn day, so I could have been having residue nicotine from the portion before. Plus I only had the Rich portion in for about 20 minutes. So if it is really that low, there is really no way. If I did these for half a day, I would start getting the shakes from lack of nic.
This stuff deserves to be in the trash bin with Knox portion, but for different reasons.
Awful, overbearing syrupy taste - and the aftertaste stays on your lip to harass you for an hour. Fortunately, Skoal Straight got the taste out of my mouth quickly. Epic fail for Phillip Morris (Unless Skoal is manufactured by PM? In that case, they redeemed themselves).
