    Why Wintergreen!

Why are all these wintergreen snus flavors being pushed onto the US market? Did some focus group meet deciding that people here love wintergreen? I think something like the SA Lucky Strikes would be much more successful.

My guess is that it's because Skoal is the biggest selling smokeless tobacco in the U.S., and the basic original Skoal flavor is wintergreen. I guess lots of people like it.

I never cared much for wintergreen flavor in anything (BTW, it is the flavor of Pepto Bismol). So I'd rather see other snus flavors more available on the U.S. market myself. A while back I was in my local tobacconist to grab some General--thought I had grabbed all cans of original portion, but when I got home I realized two of the cans were wintergreen I grabbed by mistake. Bleh!

Most of the dippers I know are WG users but I understand it seems like a major flow of mints coming.
Although, other then sterks they really are not producing too many new regular flavors over there either.

I agree and I never even tasted SA Lucky Strikes.

          What's the "SA" stand for?

Yeah, wintergreen is a popular dip flavor, of course not everyone likes it, I really don't. I bought a can of Grizzly WG just to make sure, at 1st it didn't seem bad, well, I guess it wasn't bad, I just don't care for the flavor. I did use up over half the can before I pitched it. But, many people like wintergreen, and I think the snus companies are using wintergreen to maybe attrack the dippers.

I prefer spearmint. Really though there is only a small handful of wintergreen snus out there.

              General
              Offroad
              Thunder
              Jakobsson's
              Camel

              Does Marlboro have one?
              Discreet?

Not counting the US ones, that's quite enough.

Why do the people that hate wintergreen even care that there are wintergreen snus' out there? Its not like there aren't a ton of other brands and flavors together. There are snus flavors I do not like, but I don't take exception that they are available. Every brand listed above that has a WG flavor has other flavors as well. Just go buy some other flavor.

And the BEST lifesavers are WG.

I don't mind there are some, and I'm glad there are for those that like it. I think the subject is more about how snus went wintergreen in it's attempt to attract Americans, not that there is anything wrong with that.

I don't object to wintergreen flavors being out there for those who like them, but I will be disappointed if expanded availability of snus at U.S. retail outlets involves a heavy emphasis on wintergreen to the exclusion of other flavors. I'd love to be able to buy Swedish snus (or even a high-quality--i.e., close to Swedish--American snus) over the counter at numerous convenient retail locations, but it wouldn't help me if wintergreen was the only flavor widely available. In another thread, there was a post about Northerner expanding U.S. retail distribution--great news--but 2 of the 4 flavors they plan to provide initially are wintergreens.

The only wintergreen I like is Jakobsson's. That stuff was head and shoulders above General it isn't even funny. And I'm not even a wintergreen man.

The only thing turning on me with the wintergreen and thunders spearamint is the burn. Sometimes that just gets annoying.

Because it takes shelf space away from snus that tastes good. And the best lifesavers are Pep-O-Mint :^P

I like wintergreen. I also like most mints. I can't constantly be doing them but they have their place.

I'm a fan of the General and Offroad versions of wintergreen flavor but prefer the Jak's (even though I can only use half at a time for myself).

I think the Jak's wintergreen is really the right way to get dippers. It hits hard and fast and has a familiar flavor most dippers can relate to.

So, there is a SA Lucky Strike? Is it different that the Swedish one?
