I saw it (yesterday I think) through a link someone posted elsewhere. I just wish it came in a loose form. From what I can see it only comes in original and white.
Buysnus also carries it now with a nice Swedish description. According to the description the brand is "old-fashioned, but at the same time modern and nonetheless fresh". Northerner says, it has a "classic" tobacco flavor. I really like these "informative" descriptions.

Me too, over all the brown one since it kind of remembers me of old-style wooden or leathery furniture.

Maybe it is Diplomat with a new name and can?
I don't think so, but they wrote that retro should to a certain amount be similar to Diplomat. Maybe that they only changed litte of the ingredients.
Anyways, seeing all the brands that seemed to be popular among this forum's members going off-production I thought to myself that we are maybe not such a representative group concerning likes and dislikes; seems that the Swedish snusers prefer other tastes or prices as we do.
Here in Sweden, someone who knows said that Retro has some juniper in it, so should get a Goteborgs Rape vibe going. And Diplomat died after a price and packaging downgrade. They say it was taste that drove the punters away.
It is a shame about Diplomat, that is quality stuff. Or, I should say, WAS quality stuff.
Agreed. Diplomat was an awesome snus.
The snus companies seem to have a disturbing lack of stability and tradition with their products. They change packaging style quite frequently, and drop products very quickly. You'll never get any market share if your product doesn't stay around long enough to build up a user base. I don't know what they expect to accomplish by constantly changing their product lines, but you'll never gain market share without stability.
I guess the domestic market in Sweden is the driving force behind all the changes. It is a relatively small country with a relatively small population and market, so the snus manufacturers are constantly fiddling their lines of products to maximize market share. If something sells well there, it stays, if something lags in sales, out it goes and something else is introduced to try to bump the sales. Note how fewer brands are available in loose format? Younger and newer snusers in Sweden may go for the portions instead, so loose brands get dropped.
I'm curious to know what restrictions are placed on snus in Sweden. In the USA, you can't really advertise tobacco anywhere, and I wonder if Sweden is the same way. If they could advertise in magazines, I think it would be better to keep their existing products, and tell people why they should want them. Diplomat is an easy sell. It was a great snus, with first rate packaging. That could have been exploited to sell more snus instead of trying yet another brand that nobody's heard of.
