I agree. I have never made a whole bucket, but I cannot imagine it would work out too well following those directions. When making just one can, if you don't evenly distribute the liquid in the beginning, they never even out. It really is more difficult than the directs lead on. I mean, stirring would not do anything IMO whatever portions you pour the liquid on will absorb it, and the rest will be dry. Might soak up a bit over the 3 days, but would be extremely uneven.
Definitely check out the blogs, some good info there to get ya started.

The basic instructions are here: http://refillsnus.com/
I wouldn't really recommend making the whole bucket at once.
But...
1. Somewhere between 1/2 of each (8ml total) and all of each (16ml total) depending on your taste.
2. 170-190 ml including the flavor
3. You can mix it up in the bucket, stiring carefully.
But, IMO, seriously consider mixing up single cans.
Check the blogs - some of us are documenting our "experiments" there.

Had a couple questions about how do prepare the snus bucket.
1) How much flavoring should I put in for the whole bucket? (I have two vials of the same flavoring)
2) How much water should I mixed in for the whole bucket?
3) After adding the flavor and the water do I stick the bucket in the fridge for 2-4 days, or do I separate the individual portions out on a cookie sheet?
Any information is a huge help for me and any suggestions are welcomed. Thanks, looking forward to reading your responses.

They tend to continue to dry (or soak in) for the 3 days. Check it day 3 and see how the moisture is for you. Like Ebenezer says - I too am surprised that you find 8ml too moist.Originally posted by WickedKitchen View PostThey are a little more moist than I would like, but only slightly. I'll decrease the water by 1 ml next time.

I am only gonna make 1/2, maybe even 1/4, cans from now on so I can try different things. I like my results so far, but they don't get much time in my daily rotation, so it takes a while to get through a can.
I liked the bergamot, was more lemony/tart to my taste buds than I had expected, good though. I was gonna add a little stevia to the mix next time to sweeten it up. I have a bottle of citrus, but it arrived about 1/3 short, so I want to use it sparingly. I don't know why they use those f'n bottles, they are crap.
Im not big on flavored snus, but I am having fun with this kit. The nuttiness of the raw portions is a decent base so far.
I am surprised you thought 8ml was too moist. I have settled on 10ml(9+1), but I was going for a regular moisture level. Do you use white portions?
Blueberry sounds interesting, I could see that working. I still can't get danielan's spicy cinnamon idea out of my mind, mmmm
I haven't had time to explore flavor outside snusarom, eventually get to it.

I made the Bergamont one. One can.
It's not supposed to be ready until tomorrow afternoon, but it's yummy now. I used 0.5 ml bergamont and 7.5ml water. They are a little more moist than I would like, but only slightly. I'll decrease the water by 1 ml next time. They smell stronger than they taste.
I'll be making a Blueberry snus in the coming weeks. I have to get through this Bergamont can first and I'm still sampling the Thunder Test series so it'll take a while. I've still got to get my daily ration of Grov in me. Heh.

I got the menthol, since my cig of choice was menthol. I think it's great, but I would advise mixing one can of 24 portions at a time to start. You can find the strength of flavor you like before you make the whole bucket up. I made my first can by figuring the "whole bucket" formula divided by 20, and they were very mild. For a strong menthol flavor, you'll need more than just the one bottle of flavor sent with the bucket. They suggest 8 to 16 ml flavor for the bucket, but the bottle you get is only 8 ml. If you want a strong menthol, you'll need another bottle of flavoring.Originally posted by tom502 View PostHmmmmmm........................ I've been curious about a menthol snus, and this snusX kit is the only thing I have seen with menthol availability. I guess $20 something isn't too big a loss if it sucks.... I don't know, but if I do it, I better do it soon before PACT kicks in.
Anyone tried the menthol?

It would be interesting to see how doing the whole bucket at once would turn out.
But...
Yeah, I'd do 1 can at a time. At least this first time.
If you do the whole bucket - please keep us informed how it works. I'm worried about some portions being really wet and others completely dry.
If you do the whole bucket - you might want to sort through it real quick and check the portions. I get about 2-4 broke ones in each bucket. Some of them spill, some just appear to be open a tiny bit.

OK, tell me if I have this right, the directions say you add the water/flavor mix equaling 170-190 mil to the whole bucket, so I figured I'd say 180 ml, and I looked it up, and it says that equals 3/4ths a cup, is this correct?

Oh heck, I guess curiosity, and not a bad deal(if it's decent that is) got the best of me, and I ordered it. I hope I like it. Should be interesting.

Well, they say the third time's the charm. My first two experiments with SnusX were OK but not great, but I'm very pleased with the third. (Report will be posted on my blog soon.) Think I'm starting to get the hang of it. I'm having fun thinking up new flavor recipes, and SnusX is an economical way to stock up. I don't notice any funky smell or taste in the unflavored portions -- they're just kinda neutral, as one would expect for tobacco that is intended to have flavoring added to it. So, IMO, it's all good.
@ danielan -- check my last blog post where I gave my formula for mocha SnusX. You may want to give that recipe a try and see how close you think it is to Offroad Coffee/Vanilla.
