    Spearmint Recommendation?

    Hello,

New here... and to snus! Started on the Camel stuff, liked it... did some research and ran across this place. Ended up ordering a few cans from getsnus.com to see what all the rave was about. I just got my first batch of swedish stuff today (General Wintergreen White, General Mini Mint, Thunder Frosted Mini, and Catch Eucalyptus).

Anyway, so far I'm not really digging the General Wintergreen, kind of nasty taste. It's the only one I have tried other than Camel Wintergreen, Mint, and Marlboro spearmint.

I really like the minty flavor of the Marlboro Spearmint and was hoping somebody could recommend something with a similar spearmint flavor.

    Thanks!

    Spearment Snus

I would try out the Thunder Frost. That is the name of it but it has a very minty taste. I am not sure if you have heard of it. However, many of the sites are out of it, including myself. Sorry for that. The manufacture is backed up on sending it out. Its a very popular brand and its got the kick many like.

Thanks, I have a Tin of the thunder frosted minis, just have not cracked it open yet. Tomorrow I think I will bust that open and try those. From what I have read here (I have been lurking before registering) is that the regular Frosted has a lot of drip. I usually spit out the Camel's when they start dripping a lot so I'm not sure the regular would be too good. I am willing to throw a can in my next order though! Thanks again and keep the suggestions rolling!

Welcome, scott, I've never tried Marlboro snus, but you might try Discreet Emerald Ice, if you don't mind something sweet. According to others, it has a spearmint taste.

The Marlboro doesn't seem as sweet as the Camel. It is also a smaller portion, it's odd though because the place that has them only sells them in a little package of 6 portions. Odd. Anyway, I like the Camels... but they are a bit too sweet and would like something less so. Would you say the Discreets are the same or less than Camel?

Oh yea, and the Marlboros seem to be way too light on the nicotine.

Discreets are also pretty sweet, but you can still taste the tobacco unlike camel.

You'll probably find the Discreets a step up. Like TheOneandOnly says, you can taste the tobacco. They're much closer to being real snus, in fact they are real snus, only sweet and small. They pack a pretty good punch, though.

Now the rumors abound about a new mint snus from Swedish Match, so you might have your perfect snus just around the corner--or you might find out you really like Grov or something.

Welcome to SnusOn Scott. Yes Discreet Emerald Ice is the closest you'll get to Spearmint. Another is the Triumph Mint, though hard to get unless you live in Ohio or Georgia. Thunder Frosted would be my third choice. If you don't like the drip, keep the portions as close to the front of your mouth as possible.

I personally like the General mini mint for the spearmint/minty flavor. The Thunder drips, but it is wonderful.

I just found out I can get Grand Prix spearmint snus at the local tobacco shop if anyone is interested in that. Not sure who makes it, does anyone know? It says it is genuine swedish snus, but it is gross to me.

Grand Prix is the same as Tourney, which I can get. They are "ok", I guess, considering what American brands we have, but they are medium size, and 20 to a can. I think the regular, I think it's called Original? Is not too bad. They are dry, like a dry tobacco white.

Yeah they had wintergreen, original and the spearmint. It cost a little over 4 bucks for the can w/ tax, which made me nearly sh*t my pants, esp after tasting it.

They are cheaper here, I think around $2. Not worth $4 at all. Barely worth $2, but I'd take it over the Camel even if the Camel was free.

Eww, that is where we differ. I think the Camel is better, but to each their own. For some reason the GP tasted really bitter and I really didn't get much mint from it at all. And yeah $4 is nuts, for sure.
