Anybody used snus to quit Pot?

At age 19 my parents caught me smoking pot for recreational purposes, soon after this I decided I was going to join the US Army, so illegal substances out the window I picked up snus. Been sober since April 2009. Am I a lone wolf?

Well, I am a lot older than you.

I have smoked pot every day since I was 25, 19 years ago. Since I am without job, have recently had to quit for the duration until I finally find one again. I suppose snus helps a bit. but really never needed anything to "help" me quit. I like smoking. Get a bit cranky when I have to lay off for whatever reason (usually job searches and such). But it is just the way life is and I walk away any time it is approrpiate to not be smoking.

I will say that smoking a tobacco pipe has probably made it it more "easy" than I have ever found it to be. I guess I just really do like having some kind of smoke in my mouth. And tobacco pipes really do relax me.

But honestly, pot isn't like other substances I have used in my life that was "hard" to quit. Just annoying a bit when I do.

Thank you for your service btw.

I have been sober for 3 years.I cannot drink or smoke pot like a normal person. When I used to drink I would drink a 30 pack of beer in a few hours.I destroyed most of my friendships, lost a few girlfriends and almost lost my family.I wouldnt say snus helped me to quit drinking/pot(I have snused for 5 years),but the nicotine did help me to relax.Look at it this way you dont have to quit everything at once.If snus helps you so be it.You can always quit the nicotine later on in life. After years of drinking/smoking pot,I finally became aware that their were more important things I had to do with my life, that brought more enjoyment.Dont worry about snus now.If you enjoy it,thats ok.And Thank You for serving our Country.

          Snus and quit smoking pot

I can't say that I am a pot smoker but I do have friends that smoke and use snus. From what I hear it gives you some cotton mouth and in my opinion that would not be conducive to using snus.

Just my opinion is all. If it works for some people then why not but I don't see the connection there.

Well I haven't smoked pot since I started snus, but there's no relation. Just haven't been around it.

I quit smoking pot when I started snus. Had it in my head I was giving up smoke..all smoke. Was a fairly heavy smoker. 15 to 30 grams a week for years and years. If I could afford to eat weed I'd still be stoned

Nope. I'm stoned right now and happily enjoying some odens and coffee. Beautiful, sunny, 45 degree morning here in Seattle. Sorry to hear about the weather for the rest of you folks thanks for your service, original poster. Be careful out there.

I quit smoking pot while you all were still a twinkle in your fathers eyes.

Ok well maybe not that long ago, but still.

No, I've been told that is "Nasal Snuff".

So THAT's what's in Toque Coke that makes it's so addictive.

Thanks for the replies, I'm not in the Army yet, all my paperwork is done so I ship out to Fort Benning, Georgia in June. I think what happened is that I was forced to stop smoking so I picked up something to keep me busy (Good thing it wasn't cigarettes!)

Ft. Benning in June... GAH! Watch out for lightning and fire ants! And... Have fun, dude.

I went there in 2001 for Basic, and I won't forget it. It's one of those things, like so many positive experiences in life, that suck while its going on, but you are proud of yourself afterward.

Make sure you can do pushups, situps, and run well (for a long time) before you go, or life will really be hell. I went thinking I was OK and it turned out I couldn't do a proper push-up -- that tacked on about 2-months of FTU onto the experience (Fitness Training Unit -- hell on earth -- or "Fat Tired and Useless") before I could even start actual "basic training." Most people don't have to do go to FTU though -- I was just a lazy, fat slug back then.
