Anyone else find the taste of los not as strong as portions?

As above. Got my first shipment of los yesterday and so far I've tried prima fint, ettan and probe. To be honest I can't really distinguish between the tastes. I am enjoying los so far and can see me sticking with it but I find the flavours are much more subtle (as in all the same). I assume it will take some time for my pallet to adjust?

No, not really. I am famous here for my love of portions and that is the main reason. Portions just taste more to me. Always

I think you can be more aggressive with a portion. You can move it around more, chew it. It is easier to pull more flavor from them.

well, yes and no. the flavors in los are for the most part less intense than portions, and when i first started using it i thought they tasted the same too. (of course thats because i was using roda lacket and ettan los, and they ARE the same!) i havent had prima or probe los, but i can tell you if you were to stick with los, there are more flavorful brands out there. gotlands yellow is my fave, general is lagging behind it. if you could find some, the v2 nordstrommen line is fantastic. gotland gra is an awesome very flavorful anise snus. phantom blue is very good. i havent tried phantom brown yet but reviews are very good.

Yea the great myth regarding los is that everyone should start with Roda or Prima because they bake well. The problem is that for newbes they tend to result in mudslides. Also, they are the mildest snus known to man. 2+ years in and I still can’t get anything from Prima (That said I do love Roda)

daruckis made some good suggestions (I would differ with him about the General though- to me it is tobacco colored putty) You will want to try it along with Grov, and Ettan but just not at first. Here is where I would start for both flavor and texture:

Skruf,
Phantom blue,
Gotlands
Knox,
Odens Classic,
Kronan

I've gotta side with The Original Poobah on this one. General is one of my favorites, and it wouldn't be if it didn't have, you know, flavor.

edit: To me, I mean I understand all of this is in the mouth of the beholder.

I'd say lös starts mellower, but stays longer. I get flavor from lös much longer than I do portions, but it tends to be more muted. There's some notable exceptions, some of which have been mentioned, but generally this is what I've found.

I have much less experience with it than you, but earlier today I was noticing that the pris I had really started kicking in at about the same time period when I'd be halfway through a portion. I am thinking a key with lös is patience.

Maybe the typical modern/Western/American/whatever brain just isn't really wired for lös?

That is a great point. I don't get full flavor with los until it has been in for a while (that midway point for portions as you put it).

im just saying i do like the general ES los but only as a now and then General maxi reminds me of N&J black and that is really sweet...it gives me headaches :? dumb it down and it would be good
