    Amazed...

I am just astonished about how little snus is advertised in the States. I just learned about it last Thursday, placed my first order the same day, and have been browsing these forums since then. All my years of smoking, dipping, and chewing, knowing I needed to stop, and yet just now learning about snus? This forum alone amazes me at the number of people in the US as well as other countries who have been using snus for months, even years! But I am glad to have found snus, and this forum, because snus users seem to be some of the friendliest people I have ever talked to over the net...and also, the most helpful! So I guess this was really just a post to show my gratitude

Before I learned about it online, I was not looking for it, but when I learned of it, I see the Camel Snus widely advertised at the stores, also saw Tourney Snus on a sign at the store. I have read they(Camel) advertise in some magazines(Teen Beat and the like... well, Rolling Stone), but I don't read them, so I wouldn't know, and I don't think they can advertise on billboards and bus stops, but the stores that sell it have signs out.

Welcome to SnusOn srhoades2talk. I was amazed as well when I first started that something so good like snus isn't in every gas station in America, besides the Camel.

Even if I did see Camel snus in a store, I wouldn't buy it because I've heard several times it is nothing like Swedish-made.

They advertise and push the Camel candy in Playboy to. Giving out those little "buy one get one free" cards. But yea as to the OP, it is amazing how secret snus has been here in the United States yet has been around 100s of years. I'm surprised Camel went the route they did with their crap in marketing and didn't chose to come up with a different name because it seems in the end, anyone with a brain and internet connection after trying their snus ultimately finds the real stuff and quickly converts.

The tobacco store I was in on Saturday had the Camel snus on sale for $1.89.

That is funny you mention that. I was in my local Sheetz here in Western PA the other day and I seen on the Camel Snus Backdrop Ad not 1 but 2 price postings of $1.09. So just for kicks, I asked the clerk if that was correct or not even while admitting I was only curious as I didn't want any either way. She grabbed one out of the cooler and scanned it and got all red faced and quickly scrambled over and pulled down the signs saying its like $3.80 a can.

They should be $1.09 or less. I am curious to try the new "Robust", even though I have low expectations.

I was explaining the PACT act and gave him some links for General, Discreet, Toque, Poschl, and Dholakia. Thats when he told me about the Camel sale and I told him that pretty much all snus users hate that stuff. He asked about the "Newport snus" (Triumph) and I told him that it is made by Swedish Match and is much better then Camel but still not very popular. Those guys are from somewhere in the middle east and he seemed to have some interest in Dholakia. I told him it is an Indian company that has a large product range so maybe he will stock their products. They even make snus I think.

Insanity. Camel SNUS is 4.99 a can here.

Yeah, that's all they've got here too. It's $2.95 a tin, plus all the New York taxes (sales tax, tobacco tax, luxury tax, sin tax, random tax, tax tax, consumer tax, monkey tax, etc.), so it comes out to about $32.50 a tin.
