So on to my thoughts about Robust. Opened the familiar metal Camel can to 15 large-ish vibrant white portions. Aside from being cheap, I think Camel only packs 15 portions in those tins because they fit beautifully. Not all smooshed together, the portions just gently lay on top of each other. The first scent that I am met with is a citrusy/floral/lemony scent. On second whiff, the scent makes me think of freshly brewed & still warm sun-tea with lots of lemon in it. Placed a portion in my mouth and within 5 minutes, the juices were flowing, tastes similar to many Swedish citrusy varieties I’ve tried before except there is NO saltiness, just sweet but not as sweet as previous Camel snus. Sounds delicious so far huh?? Well, right at the 10 minute mark, I began sucking on the portion to get more flavor. By 18 minutes, the flavor was pretty much gone. Spit the portion out and popped in another. Perhaps it was overload, but this second portion was just nasty tasting to me. I couldn’t get past the sweetness and am now thinking that it tastes like Country Time Lemonade mixed with Nestea Iced Tea (both powdered versions), which may have been fine, but, if you use WAY too much of the powder mix in room temp. water, it is just overkill, too sweet, too flavorful, too heavy. Camel’s description as “BOLD” is right on, but that’s not necessarily a good thing. I think others may like this though, I’m just used to my somewhat-salty snus, which 2 short years ago, I never thought would happen.
BTW - It’s been a few hours since I had those first two portions and I just opened the tin and got a whiff and it was a total turn-off. At least with the Frost, I could finish a can. $3.99 down the drain, I don’t know if I could get desperate enough to use this again.
