    Tip of the Day

With all the new people finding snus I feel compelled to consolidate our snus know how.

I plan on posting here in this thread a few times a week. I'll probably hit one a day now and then.

I'd like to hear everyone's tips as well. As long as it's snus related.

Feel free to improvise or improve on any tips seen here.

Please take off on tangents in other threads.

To keep loose snus moist I've found Grizzly cans are the epitomy of tight seeling cans.

Where I live they sell for less than $2 with dip in them. So if you're not a dipper it is an inexpensive investment.

With the labels removed the Grizzly cans are completely black. No bar code or logo anywhere.

So dump your snus out of a paperboard can into a Grizzly can and it will be as moist as the day you opened it until it is gone.

Try everything regardless of previous experience with other tobaccos/flavors. Snus is different, and you may find you like styles and flavors you otherwise wouldn't have.

Snus needs time to get used to. A week or so of regular use, of at least 6 portions/pris a day, and one will get acclimated to what seems like a heavy salt taste.

To second what lxskllr said, keep an open mind. Everyone hates some brand, everyone likes some brand, but in the end it is YOUR decision what YOU like.

If you're trying to quit smoking, snus early and snus often. Don't wait for a nic fit -- strike preemptively.

No french kissing with los in. It's not pretty

Try loose/los/lรถs. And get an icetool. Even if you end up not using it much, you'll know what everyone is talking about. And they're cool. If you /really/ don't like it, you can sell it to someone else. It also makes a great Christmas present

Sorry if that was more than one tip.

When beginning snus, start out with a sampler/try-out box (most online stores will offer these) to get a feel for what you like.

On a related note, don't order rolls of something until you've had a can or two of it. Many times my opinion of a snus has changed dramatically from when I started that can until I finished it.

Grow a beard. Covers snus lip nicely.

After hand baking your loose/los, if your hands/fingers are stained etc; use friction & heat by rubbing them together to remove. Works like a charm for me, I only use loose.

For what its worth different brands tend to more 'messy' than others, and usually water content (e.g. freshness of the open can) can come into play.
