Oh yeah, still no mudslide so I'm happy. Man, the Ettan is so moist and flavorful. I will definitely get some more of it and other flavors.

PMD- If you like Ettan (it's really too early to know yet, because your taste will change), I would highly suggest Grov and General. Those three are my all day loose choices.

I promise you won't be disappointed in it. I have always been a gadget geek, anything well made just groves me. The Icetool is well made.

AND PMD, even if you got it in a 'deal", THEY still needed to purchase it. So as for the folks who make Icetool, no difference to them.

but it is worth repeating here since I think it addresses a lot of the issues you have mentioned and a lot of the issues that first timers with los face. All three of these tips tend to help with both comfort and mudslides. Here goes and hope it helps:

1. One of the most important things to do as you begin with los is to give your lip time to adjust to having a pris under it. Give it about 2-3 weeks (depending on how often you use los). Once your lip adjusts, everything gets a whole lot easier.
2. Second, the mistake that most people make when beginning is to make the pris too big. So, make the pris smaller and work up if you need to.
3. Third, I think finding the pris placement that works for you is also very important. I’ve seen all the Swedish videos where people put snus under their upper middle lip and for the life of me I cannot fathom why. For me the placement that works best, is more discrete, and is easier to control is on the side about 3 teeth back from the two front (too far back and you will generate more saliva and thus mudslides, too far front and it just did not feel right to me).

Also, I really hope you will share your experienses with los both on this thread and over on the guide. We gladly take double posts there so a little cut and paste will do just fine.

Guilty as charged. I think the icetool will be a big help to me even for hand baking. It has a lot to say about size, form, and proper packing.

I appreciate all of your tips. I have the Gotesborg Prima Fint los in now and it's not too bad. I like the Etta a lot better so far. I can't believe how moist both of them are. I will continue to experiment with the size of the pris and the brands. I have in 3 clicks now and am so glad I got the IceTool. It makes it a whole lot easier. I would have already quit trying los if I didn't have it.

Ya'know, when I handbaked yesterday, I was realizing the size of the pris, as well as the size of the pris from a portion tool, seem to be so bigger than the amount of snus that's inside a portion. I think if I opened up a portion and took the snus out, and rolled it into a pris, it would be more than half smaller than a typical handbake and portion tool pris.

I tend to handbake too big. I use 2 clicks on the IceTool, and that's perfect for me. My handbaked prises were at least twice the size of the IceTool's. Snus is the same as cigarettes for me. I have a pretty wide range of what's an acceptable size. Big or small, it doesn't really make a difference. I always rolled my cigarettes about 2/3 the size of a factory smoke, and that was great. I could have rolled it 1.5-2 times as big, but I wouldn't have enjoyed it any more than my typical size, I'd just be using more tobacco.
