    Back to Snusing Exclusively Again...

When I first discovered snus (from googling alternative nicotine delivery system) I fell in love with it, happily quit smoking for about 6 months, and began spending some time at these forums. Then when I began hearing about all the impending legal stuff about mail delivery in the US, the FDA etc., I got both angry and depressed, and began smoking again, continuing to use snus only for non-smoking environments.

Like I suppose many here, I'm pretty touchy about what I perceive to be an insanely oppressive anti-tobacco war, conducted by self-righteous maniacs...

... at any rate, even visiting this forum began to depress me, because it would just bring these issues into the forefront, so I stopped coming here.

But the truth is, regardless of where one can or can't smoke, or whether if or how snus might continue to be available, I really do prefer snus to smoking. and if I don't smoke at all, it only takes a few days to get completely over the cigarette craving.

So I conclude that it make more sense to just snus for as long or however I can, and take life as it comes rather than worry about all the what-ifs and what-thens, and I'm smoke-free for about a month again.

FWIW, that's my little story as regards snus and this place. Just thought I'd mention it.

Why we have essentially banned that topic here now. I am sorry it made you so frustrated. But thank you for posting your story, just gives me more ammo next time someone tries to break that unwritten code.

But don't stress it. Swedish Match is preparing for that eventuality, if it happens. If the worst case ever does happen, you will quickly see a much wider variety of snus available here locally. Sure, we might pay a bit more, but it is so much better than smoking.

I have spent more time smoking these past few weeks than I have in the previous 6 months. Went through a pack of cigarettes twice. I don't mind one here and there. But smoking more, God it just made me feel more ill than anything. Snus so much better.

Glad we have you back. I promise, only fun here these days. Other subjects are taboo. What comes will come, so why stress over what we can't control?

      Welcome back man :^)

There's no point in dwelling on what may happen. Pretty much anything that happens anymore displeases me, so I adjust and keep doing what I'm doing. NOBODY will keep me from my snus and snuff, and while it may not be as cheap and convenient in the future, I WILL have it :^)

Yea, gotta say I've had that nagging, pissed off, somewhat depressing concern in the back of my brain since I switched to snus as well. But as you said, and as with everything, we gotta take it as it comes.

Good news seems to be happening a little bit to tho if ya surf around here. Discreet is making some great stuff domestically with more to come. SM seems to be hinting at more presense I'm the US. Some local shops seem to be coming on board. And as has been said here before, we will find a way.

Are our online retailers like Northerner, buysnus etc... prepared for the massive spending of hundreds of dollars by each of us if this bill passes?

I just had to laugh. How the world has changed this last year and a half. So many of us having added snuff to our snus routine. I just had to laugh as I say it exactly the same way now. Always snus AND snuff, like it isn't possible to separate the two in my mind any more. I just need both.

TheOneandOnly, I am sure the retailers are paying attention. I can't remember off the top of my head how much time the House bill at least gave for it to be implemented.

But it ain't gonna happen, I tell you. Just not much time left in the current session. Health care reform just taking so much attention. I think if it were to happen, it already woulda. Just my opinion.

I hope you're right Sage. I much prefer having my snus mailed to me, than flying to Sweden and smuggling a years supply of snus back home. Sweden's cool and all, but that's an expensive trip to make every year :^D

Exactly right. We beat that dead horse. Seriously. And if it was my thread back then that started that, I'm sorry. I stopped talking about it because I saw how much it was stressing/pissing people out/off, and I stopped worrying about it myself. Regardless of what happens, we'll be able to get snus, and I'm not worried about it. I REFUSE to let something like that ruin my love of snus. But sage is right, the unwritten code ensures you won't see it again.

I believe it's important to remain conscious of the bill. Which can be done here: http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h111-1676

If it becomes apparent that it will pass, prices will probably increase alongside demand at all the online vendors in a narrow window before its passing. I typically budget so that I can place an order every month. Not only does this save me money in the long run, as it seems rising prices has been a trend since i've started, but it promotes variability in the snus I have on hand. I can rationalize this expenditure based on what I would have spent smoking and I still end up saving.

But remaining conscious is a different horse. We can bookmark these things and look at them on our own time, that would be good. But I don't want to see us getting back to the crazy paranoia we had going around here when we all got all hopped up and crazy about it. That was a messed up few weeks. I'd rather put in a portion, and put my head in the sand. Because I can at least enjoy my snus that way, and I'm not fearing every day what may happen someday, and what probably won't happen someday.

I don't think it even matters to remain"conscious" of it. Why bother???

If it passes, I will hear. Until then, please shut up about it. Again, NOTHING any of us can do about it. So I just don't need to worry about what may happen. I will just deal with what does happen when it does

Just read the house version. We will have at least 60 days after passage.

                      SO....

Shut up until it passes. Don't remind me, don't mention it, don't anything about it. Again, can't do anything about it, so don't waste your breath or your little finger muscles. I don't care!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats exactly what finnish people must allways do. Tho sweden is our neighbour. But I got swedish friend who sends me the snus in small package where doesn't read with very big letters "snus". 8)

When I read the 1st post in the thread, it made me think that anytime not smoking, and/or reducing, even if for a limited time, is better than not at all.

Now not wanting to beat the dead horse, we'll just see what the future holds. I hope for the positive, not only because of my personal freedoms limited, but also the effect it will have on many people who make their livlihood on this.

I still would like to see snus available locally at non-speciality shops, besides Tourney and Camel. And while I do enjoy and use snus regularly, I could live without.

When I started this thread, I didn't wish to imply that it was anything that anyone posted here that I had a problem with. It was the message that bummed me out, not the messengers... Losing my interest in snus had nothing to do with people complaining or anything like that...
