Being able to smell things again sucks sometimes....

So I walked into my office this morning, and was like WTF IS THAT SMELL, it was overpowering, it smelled like a shirt after a night at the bar, or like somebody was chainsmoking in my office or something, and I could not figure it out for the longest time. When I smoked, this wouldn't have even phased me, but now it drives me crazy. I searched my office for at least 15 minutes until I found a shirt of an ex employee that had been dropped off last night and smelled like smoke, and it was in like the bottom back draw of the desk. Ugh.

    I know what you mean...

I smoked my last cigarette 6 years ago...and I can still smell someone lighting up on the free way going 70mph two or three cars up.

Funny enough, I still smoke cigars, one or two a week and those smells don't bother me...

But cigarette smoke...just FOUL...and I have no idea what to do about that...

      Cigars are great...great smell.

But if I get around a heavy smoker, in a smokers car, or like this morning, smell a hint of smoke, I'm like GROSS.

Maybe I am funny but cigarettes still don't bother me. Sure, I appreciate that my house doesn't smell of them, even more so that I don't smell of them. But it has never bothered me when someone smokes around me. I guess I just so long ago got used to that smell.

More importantly, I vowed 20 years ago the first time I quit that I would NEVER turn into one of those holier than though ex-smokers who suddenly hated everything to do with a cigarette. That is just so sad to me.

One of my favorite smells is opening a bar, and smelling stale beer and cigarettes :^D I really enjoy the smell of smoke, even old smoke on someones clothes. I don't like it in my bedroom though. I've always smoked in my house, but the bedroom's off limits. I don't care for the smell when I'm going to sleep.

I don't do the "holier than thou" thing, but I sure can notice the smell alot more. It's more foul than I remember it being when I smoked.

                Laugh...

                Karma is a bitch...

My parents used to complain that I smelled like smoke. Usually I was attempting to be nice and waiting 15 minutes or so before coming in. Now...I know how they feel.

It was bad enough that I sold all my fabric furniture and bought new stuff because it was driving me insane.

                Interesting the differences.

Now my fiancee and a good friend who quit smoking don't like their new taste buds and smells...they tend to smell the bad things they ignored when they smoked, and most of their favorite foods taste different, and not in a good way.

It's a whole new world, you have to relearn alot of things when you quit smoking cigarettes. What scares me is that other forms of tobacco meant to smoke apparently don't have this issue...my friends who smoke cigars and pipes much more often than I don't have the same issues...so what chemicals in cigarettes cause this?

I can smell second hand smoke really well now, not attractive in the least bit. I work for a company that has a no smoking policy, and I am suprised I still have a job after sneaking out for smokes if I came in smelling like that.

I don't mind cigarette smoke, a coworker of mine smokes Top roll ups and those things smell great sometimes.

Being able to smell again is great! Of course, my job is finding natural gas leaks. Smoking was kinda hazardous anyway.

I would imagine it would speed the process up a lot though.

Probably, but it would also be an earlier retirement than the one I've planned.
