New to forum,snus newb

Just dropping in to say hi and that i look forward to interacting with
the group. Already enjoying reading the reviews.

I'am a newbie when it comes to swedish snus but not to smokeless
tobacco products. Been dipping the american stuff for about 18yrs
now.Was a cope addict for years bf switching to different brands
partialy because of cost and in part to find something that was a little
less harsh on the gums. Have been alternating between longhorn mint and
longhorn natural for the last 3yrs.

Tried the camel snus a couple of months ago and while i would'nt say it
was total garabage, i did find it to be weak nic wise, too candy like
taste wise and expensive. It was different though and i liked the spit
free aspect. It got my curiousity up enough to where i looked online for
info on snus in general and that's where i found out about the swedish
stuff.

Needless to say i have begun trying out different brands of snus
over last month and overall enjoying it. However i feel like i'am
shooting in the dark somewhat with all the different brands and
flavors that are available and not knowing a whole lot about any of them. Am hoping that a group like this will be helpful with that aspect
as i would be able to get feedback from experienced users.

Thus far oden's kanel los is my favorite allthough i struggle a bit with the whole baking a pris thing. So for now the los is an pleasure to enjoy while kicking back at home and the kanel portions when i'am out 'n about. Presently trying some general orginal portions, the whole lemon pepper thing is very different than what i'am use to but not bad.It's growing on me . Got several more different varities on the way from northerner and will be interesting to see what new flavor experiences await me.

Honestly, the best advice I can give you is just be patient. In the end, you will like what you like, but it is gonna take a long while for you to try everything, and for your tastes to settle down. One thing snus is famous for is how much the taste of different snus can change for you over time. When I try a new snus now, even after using for 2 years, I still have to give it at least a month before I can really decide what I think about t. Some I hate at first, then get much better. And some I thought I liked, get worse with time.

For me, it took almost a year of using before I developed a stable of snus that I really like that switch up with throughout the month.


So keep trying new things and getting more of what you seem to like. Read other reviews, but realize snus reacts differently with each person. So no matter how much one snus is loved or hated by a bunch of people means nothing about if YOU will like it.

EDIT. And oh, I can not recommend an Icetool enough.

if you're a former dip user, i suggest trying General Wintergreen if you haven't. it wasn't for me, but i hear those who go from dip to snus swear by it.

I may give it a try later just to give it a chance, but for the most part i was never fond of the american wintergreen varities of dip.I dunno if the general wintergreen does'nt have so much of the chemical after taste that the american ones all seemed to then i might like.

You'll want to try a bunch of different snus eventually, but Grov, Ettan, and General would be a good start for a former dipper. Gotland Yellow is very good for something a little stronger in the citrus category.

OP what type have you tried so far that you've liked? I ordered my own sampler pack and have yet to recieve but I am just wondering in general what other newbies have liked.

Being a rookie myself, when I switched, first thing I done was order every kind I could find(los). So far the only one's I haven't liked are knox and oden's es original. You will be different I'm sure. From what I can tell General, Grov,Granit,Ettan,Skruf,Probe,Gotlands yellow, and Roda Lacket will be my stable. By the way I ripped the portions of onyx open and used it as los and loved it. Nearly 4 bucks a can will make it a rare and special treat for me. As everyone on here told me just experiment and see what you like.

Welcome to the forums. Based on what you've listed so far that you've liked, let me give a big recommendation for Grov Lös. It's got all of the best elements of Copenhagen and General, and it's really easy to work with, so you don't need a prismaster or an Icetool right off the bat. It's a very moist, coarse grind and the flavor is stupendous. OK, enough whoring for Grov for now.

Welcome InFlames. I'm also a snus n00b and trying to discover my go to brand. General wintergreen reminded me of Skoal. It smells almost exactly the same to me. Good luck on your journey because there are tons of snus to try.

i reccomend to those coming over from camel snus, mostly. because that's how i came over, and i've heard from alot of people that some of the flavored snus i suggest helps them come over into the swedish stuff, and what's weird is i still like the flavored stuff but most people i've helped are into like general ES or claq qui or something now, it's an odd bunch

The flavored snus works for some, not for others. Honestly, all folks need when making the switch over from camel is time. And advice NOT to trust their initial taste experiences. It's the salt that really throws folks. But give them a week to two, and there bodies get used to it and then they can taste what Swedish snus is really all about.

Been here for more than a year since Camel hit, we have had hundred and hundreds of folks make the switch and all of them took basically the same route. Were really thrown off my Swedish at first, but if they gave themselves a bit of time, quickly came to love the Swedish stuff, and usually not even the flavored kind.
