Hello all from a another noob

    Just wanted to say hello.
Some folks on another forum I read started a thread about snus and it got me interested. I been smoking for about 20 years. I been using the Camel mild for the last few days because that's whats available local. I find it OK but after a while the sweetness starts to get to me. I ordered the Top 10, Snus Box http://www.northerner.com/en/snus/No...us%20Box-2604/
from Northrner and am really looking forward to trying all the different varities.
Didn't really plan on using snus as a cigarette quiting tool , but even using the Camel snus I have cut down from about a pack and a half to around five or six smokes a day , so who knows?
Thanks for all the great info.

Welcome dz, I too am a noob. If you're in the US getsnuff can get you a trial pacK of General for $1 and while I must admit the flavors are strong for someone new to swedish snus it also gave a place to begin. There is another thread from a noob that many have suggested where to go next.

Once you start using Swedish snus, you'll never want to touch the Camel shit again. Welcome.

keep in mind, that while coming from america's Camel "SNUS" to swedish snus - it is worthwhile - but it is a world of difference. the best advice i can give you is a few key things.

          1. when you get the snus, don't open it up and immediately smell it. i did this and it almost turned me off swedish snus forever. instead, open it and put a portion in and go by taste. the smell, you will get used to it.

          2. you won't like every one you try. but the good thing about snus is the variety. keep an open mind, talk on the forums, talk about what you've tried and like or don't like, any we will be able to make suggestions to you.

          3. read the reviews on northerner or getsnus before you order, each product has a review section. those are the only 2 i order from myself (i try to steer clear of affiliates, as parent companies ship alot faster), and each product will have a few reviews and you can get a general feel for it, but if its something you want that sounds good and the reviews don't like it, what the hell - try it anyway! snus is cheap.

and good luck. it's a great new world to come in to.

          chad

Hi N00b, Catch isn't my thing but that seems to be a great overview of the different flavors you'll be experiencing. Looking forward to hearing what you think.

Welcome Dz! I am fairly new to the wonderful world of snus myself! I can tell you that there's nothing like it in the world! Don't be suprised if you end up forgetting about cigs altogether.

Keep up the posting and reading. There is a world of knowledge to be gained from this site. I'm sure you'll figure out who the pros are fairly quickly. And in my experience, they are always ready and willing to give great advice.

              And again welcome!! 8)

Welcome, and good call on the tryout box...that's what I always recommend to start with, since it is a fairly decent representation of snus all around. Anything you don't like now, you will probably "rediscover" later, so don't go tossing the ones that don't grab you right away.

Hahaha, I was a newbie about a year ago...and I'm still a newbie. God very, very sidetracked. So we can have our snus adventure together. YAAAAAAY!

Also, keep what Chad said in mind. I remember being put off by the smell initially. I thought I'd gotten a bad delivery or something. I think the real, Swedish stuff is a bit of an acquired taste, given that us Americans are so used to SUPER-SWEET-FLAVOR-OVERLOADS instead of complex subtlety. So yeah, keep that in mind, too.

...I think I've forgotten what sleep is...

Welcome to the forum, and to snussing! There is also a chance that, like many people here, you will first start off liking the flavored snus and then slowly grow to like more basic flavors. While there are still many people here who have been using snus a long time and enjoy flavored, that just seems to be a trend.

So what seems to be the best, is to try all of the snus in your sampler pack. Keep them in ziploc bags in the fridge, because you will probably have many cans open at the same time (no first order user can resist opening and trying them all). Anything you like, try ordering 2 cans of on your next order. You will probably find that you may want to re-order about 30% - 50% of the cans you get from your first order. Then, if you go through the 2 new cans of your favorite snus, and still enjoy them, you can try making a bigger order.

I, also like many other people here, wasted a lot of money when I first started by over-ordering snus that I thought I liked, but grew to dislike after around 2 cans.

dz, jackolanter gives wise advice. Take your time, order lots of variety but small quantities. Taste will change

                              Got my snus!

I received the one can of general white that shipped from Pa.
last week and really liked it much better then the Camel.
I was trying to make the general last till the rest of my order came in
and I found I had to use two Camels to get any nicotine.
I ran out of the General white today.
I was thinking of buying an extra tin of the camel
on my way home from work to last till the rest of my order came in but decided I'd rather just smoke till I get the good stuff.
Walked in the house and my shipment was waiting for me.
First out trying a Ettan, don't notice a hell of a lot of difference from
the general white maybe a little more peppery.
Anyhow I am really ****ing happy.
