About to try first LOS ever!

Ok guys...I'm like a kid in a candy store here...this will be my first time ever trying a loose pris. I have 2 can's to choose from. On recommendation from lxskllr I have a Gotland Yellow and Skruf Stark. Also on his recommendation I am going to be trying the gotland as my first pris. I'll update you step by step to let you know how it goes...im about to open the can as I sit here.

the smell is good...kind of a real strong tobacco smell with a bit of the ammonia smell as well. I'll be using the prismaster now. I guess I should review that while I am at it. It is a big cheap...but then again it WAS very cheap...am i the only one who used the wrong end the first time lol...ok trying again using the CORRECT side this time.

ok pris is in...im liking the taste...the pris feels real fat in my lip. I am assuming this is result of the prismaster...I really like the tool but I defienatly can see myself with an icetool if I continue to like it.

Yes, the fatness of the pris is from the prismaster. the Icetool makes a far more comfortable pris, at least for me.

And btw, I too used the wrong end when I first tried lös a year ago.

lol sage. I dont feel like such an idiot anymore. This week has been hard enough. I didn't mean to create this in the shop catagory. If a mod could move this to snus and accessories that would be great. My apologies. I'f not Ill just delete it in a little big and start over.

ok...ive had the pris in for about 30-45 min. It's about as long as I want it in...Anyway I have to agree with one of sage's post. I feel a little blah about it. The high point for me was a little more subdued flavored, and a softer feel but more of a natural feel than the pouches. I am going to keep trying it when im at home...hopefully ill get to liking it...well see. Anyways ill keep you updated.

I have promised to do a long term test to see if this whole lös concept grows on me. So far, I feel about it about the same the first time I tried, I don't fel the magic, flavor is uh, well just OK, but certainly nothing special. And I find I don't like the feel nearly as much as portions. Sure, it is "softer", but the pris, even using just a 3ml Icetool, is still bigger than a portion. I just don't really like how it feels in my mouth. I don't like that I can't play with it.

Overall, I find I am struggling a bit more to make myself use it. I just put in my first pris of the day. but I will live up to my word an d not give up on it. folks say it can take a while to work it's magic.

I'm glad I am not alone in trying it out through.

yea...i didn't even realize I was going to have a partner in crime untill you started posting last week. So I figured I would at least have someone trying along with me. My main question is...are we ever going to truly "get used to it." I certainly dont think I would have ever started to like snus as much as I did if i kept smoking and only had a portion every now and then. I literally had to stop all smoking and only do snus. That was when I realized how much more I liked snussing. Will los be the same way?

You are not alone. I did this too and then went on to ask how to clean the snus I had clumped up the wrong end out when all I needed to do was rinse it under water

Well I must admit...i put the whole damn thing in my mouth and went...hmm this just does not feel right at all...that was a helluva a super pris..must of been like 10ml lol. Thanks for the move. Whats the moving fee? :wink:

The shape is worlds better than the Prismaster's. It will take some time, but once you "figure it out", it becomes very easy.

It took awhile for me to get into lös. I first got a tin of Ettan, and was underwhelmed. After that I figured I'd get the occasional tin of lös for tradition's sake, but not out of any huge enjoyment. I then picked up a tin each of Gellivare and Landströms because the tins were unique, and I wanted them for collector purposes. I ended up really digging them, the Landströms in particular. Both of these brands are extremely challenging to use by hand, so I got an IceTool to make things easier.

Time went on, and I picked up some other tins of lös just to try them, and I found that the flavor in some cases was dramatically different from the portions. Sometimes better, sometimes worse, but always different. I was also able to get more flavor out of the lös than I previously did. I liked the mouth feel better, and the flavor lasted much longer, though more muted throughout. I'm now using about 90% lös, and if I had to give up one style of snus, portions would go in a heartbeat. AFAIC the only thing portions have going for them is they're neater to use. Lös feels better, the flavor lasts longer, the pris size is customizable, and it's cheaper :^)

ctimb2002, I just think we need to be patient, give it lots of time, keep trying. From everything I have read, lös does seem to take time to grow on folks. So I am keeping an open mind, using as much as I can, and we will see.

But if in the end, we both, or just one of us, decides we really do love portions more, that's OK. I tend to go into "fight the war" mode when folks post stuff like somehow lös is "better", or more "advanced", like they are big boys now cause they use lös. I think comments like that are just ignorant.

In the end, using snus is about using what you love, be that Camel, portions or whatever. There is no right way, or "better" way. There is just the way you like it.

But, maybe so I can continue on in my militant defense of portions, I am determined to give this as much time as it takes to find the love.

Comparing general portion and loose I much prefer the taste and buzz of los. It also allows me to choose how much I want to take. I'm learning I can't smoke and snus or snuff at the same time without getting a little sick, and I've been a heavy tobacco user for half my life.
