Snus biodegradable?

When I was a smoker I always used to "field destroy" them - take the filter and tear it in half (trick I learned from someone in the Army, he told me that it was required by the army but I don't know for sure). I used to litter my lawn with cig butts that way. I was enclosed on all 4 sides by fence, yet cig's disappeared after a week or two. My backyard was not overrun by cig butts. I think without this water just soaks into them and they stick around.

With snus I always throw them out, so I can't say how long they'd take to decompose, but since they're paper and tobacco I can't believe they'd stick around. I'd throw them in my backyard as well, but since I now have kids I don't want them to stumble upon them .

I've been experimenting over my course of snus usage. I must spit out on average about 25 portions a day on the courtyard outside my office, and did the same at college... they always seem to be gone after a week or so. So what's the problem? :P

Have you noticed a decline in the population of small wildlife in your area? LMAO I'd say the birds and squirrels are getting them....

I hope to hell they break down quickly, as I mentioned a few months back, I've been flushing portions down the toilet (septic system) for nearly a year. Nothing bad has happened so far...maybe one day I'll be riding a wave of half rotten portions and human waste as I'm blown through the roof from pressure buildup.

It's just paper and tobacco. Spit it on the ground and the earth will eventually eat it. I usually spit mine in the toilet, but when I'm on the computer and feeling lazy I just open the window and spit them out. I don't even have to get up lol.

I throw out portions in the bushes all the time, I wonder if the squirrels ever try it out.
