    A lös virgin needs advice

    Hi folks,

I have been snusing for about 4 weeks now, and have been using portions exclusively. I feel I am ready to take that next step and try lös. I have a couple of questions. The snus I love in portions is Offroad Wintergreen - is it logical, then, to first try this as a lös? It's a shame, as Xobe pointed out, that there isn't Thunder WG in lös. Oh, also, which icetool size would you recommend for a first timer?

    Thanks guys.

If you enjoy the portions then by all means get the los. I'd recommend the 3ml Icetool for starters as it makes a pris that is almost undetectable under the lip.

3ml is definitely the way to go to start off with. Build up from there.

As far as flavors, Go for the Offroad American Wintergreen Los. Other than that, just go where your tastes desire.

I have a couple that I use all the time (Phantom Classic & Phantom Blue) but I buy several others.

You'll find that each manufacturer has it's own style as far as grind, taste, etc.

You'll find what you prefer eventually.

I would recommend a Prismaster to start out, and see if you even like los. I tried los a few times, but decided it was not for me...

I love the OR Wintergreen los; it's on almost every other order. One thing to note, however, is that it does not have the same burn as the portions do. The whole taste is a little more faint, but that is the way it is with most los, anyway.

Prismaster is a good idea for starters; it's only like 2 bucks, so if you turn out not to be a los man, you're only out a few dollars.

OTOH, Prismaster and IceTool are NOT the same as far as the pris they make. The icetool is much more comfortable under the lip, and it has an undeniable "cool factor". So, I say get the Prismaster to start off with; the pris it makes will hold together fine for you to try it and see if you like it. If it turns out los is for you, then DEFINITELY purchase an icetool; 3 or 4 ml for sure; 5 ml is too big until you've really got some time under your belt.

Thanks for your tips guys, I think I'll try the prismaster first, and get a selection of los.

The prismaster does make a somewhat bulky, pillow-shaped pris under your lip. I'd recommend using the p-master and popping the pris into your hand. Then slightly shape it into a more slender and cylindrical shape.

sorry the title of this thread made me laugh. i agree a prismaster is a good way to start, but it is a completely different feel than an icetool. i only use my prismaster when i forget my icetool. i keep one at work, and onther in my backpack. when you get your lös you should give hand baking a try also and i still enjoy a good hillbilly pinch once in awhile.

Yes! Handbaking is enough even for a beginner. My first prises looked as bad as they could be and they only lasted half an hour before I just had to spit them out. A few prises even were totally unusable and yet I quite immediately got hooked on lössnus. The prismaster works well as a backup, if handbaking doesn't work at all.

That said, I simply don't like the kind of pris the prismaster makes. It's at the same time to small and yet too unwieldy for me. Others may have better experiences, since the prismaster is widely used in Sweden.

                    Cheers!
